Vehicle Detail
EXTREMELY SOLID, All ORIGINAL,1970 Ford Fairlane 500 (Torino bodystyle)...only 3 small areas of rust; under the battery tray (3" x 3"), left rear inner fender (trunk drop-off area), and a couple of pinholes in front of the left rear wheel well. Everything else is solid and original, factory primer readily visible in the trunk area. Floorpans, cowl and everything underneath is flawless. Chassis and underbody retain the original undercoating and it has protected it well. Engine is a very strong, smooth running 302 Windsor with a 2 bbl carburetor. Still retains the points type distributor. I do not believe the engine has ever been apart. There are no aftermarket parts on the car, it is as close to original as you will find. The only exceptions would be the newer BF Goodrich T/A's (90% or better tread) and wheels (15") and a new 2 1/2" Flowmaster dual exhaust with long tube headers (sounds great). Pump the gas twice and it fires right up. The Cruise-o-matic transmission shifts smooth. The overall condition of the car reflects the original low mileage. It has manual drum brakes all around and power steering. AM radio, vinyl flooring (original, these came with no carpet). The exterior color is correct (dark ivy green metallic with white hardtop and ginger interior). Everything checks out correctly using the build tag. It was built in San Jose, CA sold to Denver, CO and I got it out of Minneapolis (3rd owner). Dash pad, top of rear seat and package tray are sunbleached and the front bench upholstery is starting to dry rot. This is basically a minor body, paint and interior restoration. I had intended to build a Grandma's sleeper out of it and have added an extremely nice GT rear tail light panel, like new Cobra headlight doors (still looking for the correct, Cobra center grill section), sport mirrors and a front license plate bracket (tough find). It has spent some time in the sun as evidenced by the sunbleached interior and what looks like several "re-clear coated" areas. It was poorly done and is starting to peel, but the original paint is underneath. All of the glass is perfect. EVERYTHING works on this car, it doesn't even have an instrument panel bulb burned out. And don't underestimate that 302 with a two barrell...it runs EXREMELY STRONG...very stout car. It can be driven home (it does need front shocks) if you prefer, or I can help load with your shipper of choice. I have just put a new battery, battery tray, battery cable, solenoid, air filter, points, radiator cap and fuel filter on it. It's ready to go. $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of auction's close or it gets relisted. Check my feedback...I don't screw people. I've been as accurate as I know how. Fire it up and go! Balance of payment will need to be USPS Postal Money Orders (preferred) , Bank Check, Cashiers Check, Bank Teller Check. All funds will need to clear my bank before vehicle leaves my property. Very nice, solid and tight car...you will not be dissappointed. I do reserve the right to end the auction early at any time. Clear title in my name on hand. Thanks for your interest.
