Vehicle Detail
I bought this truck from the neighbor of the original owner. The original owner used it to haul hay, i was told, 1/2 a mile from the field to the barns. When we got it, it had a wooden bed on it. We tore most of it off because it was rotten from setting. The truck was sold to the grandson in 1989 and it was retitled then. At that time, it was stamped odometer reading of 391 miles. Now it reads 1382 miles on the odometer. I was told, and I believe, these are the actual miles. It is exempt due to year model, of course, but judging from the condition of the vehicle I believe it to be correct. I was told it has set outside for the last 8 or 9 years. I have yet to see a dent in the cab or any part of the body. It has a 292 V8 that wasn't running when we got it. It was full of clean oil. We set the points and it fired up. It does run and drive (have ran it around in the pasture) but won't stop. It steers excellent. The brakes need bled or possibly worked. It has a 2 speed rear end. I haven't tried it to see if it works. 4 speed transmission, the clutch feels and works great and the gears shift easily. New tires on the rear. The front tires are as new, but they are dry (see pic). I haven't seen it smoke any. It runs out good. I didn't try to use the fuel tank (I just put a jug in by the radiator). I assumed it probably needs flushing out. I did put a new fuel pump on it because I figured it might need one. From the best of my inspection, I could only find 3 or 4 very small (less than half dollar size) rusted through spots. On the inside front of driver's side door, near left foot of driver; passenger side rocker panel, and passenger side rear bottom cab (quarter size hole). In the passenger floor in front of the battery door, there were a couple of nickle sized holes (I have pics posted of all). The previous owner said the dump bed works, but the driveshaft for the pto is laying on the bed (the u joint was out on it). It has the big back window. All the windows look original and are in excellent condition. The wing glasses have some bubbling, but all the rest are good. No cracks. The seals are a little dry from setting in the sun. The headlights and wipers do work. A guy could fix the brakes and drive it to a car show (I would at least). This is a very nice truck. I do have an open title (the one issued in 1989). There is no reserve on this truck. The highest bidder will be the new owner. If you have any questions, please email me. I will hold the truck for 60 days if paid for. After 60 days if it has not been picked up, it will be sold for storage costs, no refunds. Full payment is expected within 3 days of end of auction.
