Vehicle Detail
For auction is my 1992 Dodge D-250 with Cummins Turbo Diesel. This is a steadfast work horse ready to go anywhere, however it does need some love.General: The first thing about this truck is the the dashboard gauges do not work. I listed the truck with 10,000 miles more then the odometer reads because I thought that was a very fair over estimate of how many miles I’ve driven the truck since the odometer died. I brought the truck to lots of shops including the local dodge dealership and none of them could fix the issue. When I the gauges stopped working so did the trucks overdrive. So I installed a manuel switch in the cab to push the overdrive solenoid into action on the highway. In addition I added a thermostat as that is a very vital gauge. In addition the truck has a few other modifications. The most obvious being the flat black paint and the flat bed. I built that flat bed using pine and steal. Some of it is welded and other parts bolted. NOTHING is welded to the frame of the truck, so if you wanted to remove the bed it would not be difficult. Also I did run the vehicle on vegetable oil and much of that two tank system is still intact. When I did I always made sure to run it clean with diesel before and after every start. I took great precaution with the veggie oil as not to do any damage. I have not driven it on veg since before I drove round trip from Rhode Island to New Orleans LA last year. So it has at least 3,000 miles of diesel driving on it. This truck is good to run on diesel, but if someone wanted to add a veggie oil system it would be relatively easy. I left the filter and switches so all it would need is a tank re installed. Those same switches could also be used to and another diesel tank. Maintenance Needed: Beyond all that thing above I will continue to be completely outright, this truck needs some maintenance. Here is a straight forward list of what I know needs to be done and/or issues the truck has. -Most pressing in order for it to pass an inspection is the fuel tank needs a new strap. The previous owner used a chain, to replace a strap and the RI inspection station won’t let that pass. They let it pass the first time it was inspected, but now they don’t like it now. I don’t have the energy to do the repair properly and the tank is certainly secure enough to drive with. -Second it needs a work on the power steering pump. Especially in cold weather this pump leeks and as a result sometime won’t work. -It needs work on the parking brake. More then the cable the actual drums need to be replaced or repaired. -The body work above windshield need some love. The previous owner made a bondo repair to it and it is breaking down. It does not leak into the cab, but another winter and it might. -It does have leak transmission fluid. I have only noticed it a few times. It seems most prone when in park idling backwards on incline or in reverse on incline. It is never more then a few drops. -It does leak some oil when idling in park or neutral. If left idling for 5 minutes it will leave a small oil spot. This never seemed like a significant amount to me. -It is missing a window pane in the rear of the cab. -The handle on the interior of the passenger side door is mangled. You can see that damage in on of the photos. -The exhaust is wrapped in exhaust tape. It does not leak. Maintenance Recently done: -4 new tires bought 2 years ago all with good tread. -1 year old starter -1 year old alternator -3 new ball joints and two front upper control arms. -1 year old serpentine belt More details: -This truck has always started right up with out any smoke. -Other then rust above the front windshield the body is a great shape. No rust anywhere else. -The only rust on the frame is where the previous owner made his fuel tank strap. -The fabric on the roof of the cab sags -The truck boxes do not leak and I have a the key to there locks -Radio works. Conclusion: I have tried to describe the entire including all of it’s flaws. Obviously I haven't polished this up for a sale and I hope that an educated buyer will appreciate my outright description of the entire vehicle. I left a low starting bid and no reserve because I don’t know how much this truck is honestly worth. If you want a photo or a video of something specific just ask. I will be around all week if you would like to come by and see it.
