Vehicle Detail
This is an auction for TWO(2) Honda CB900F s. All the parts belonging to a 1981 CB900F and all the parts bellowing to a 1982 CB900F are included. General: These bikes are both project bikes. I get allot of offers on them, but I have know real sense for there combined value. That is why this will be a no reserve and low starting bid auction. The 1981 is a registered bike with all the necessary paper work for a sale. The 1982 will only come with a bill of sale. The story of two bikes: I started off with the 1981 last summer. It ran well for 1,000 mile last summer. Then in the fall the head gasket blew. I suspect this was likely the result of a exhaust gasket and heat sink coming loose thereby inhibiting the exhaust flow causing a critical amount of pressure. To be honest, I botched the repair. I dropped a nut down from the where the timing chain leaves the cams and heads to the crank shaft. I assure you, I did everything I could to get that nut out, but was unsuccessful. So, I did the logical thing....and bought another CB900F. This 1982 model had poor suspension and was overall in rough shape. However, the engine sounded great and had low miles (about 31,876). I then swapped the engine, gear box, etc(these are all one unit). This all went well, but I found the 1982 engine unit had a bad alternator core and stator. At that point I gave up and here we are. Below is a description of each item: The 1981 CB 900F: This bike has the 1982 engine with the bad alternator. I assume, though I don't have the energy to find out, that this bike will run well with a new alternator. It ran well on a full battery, but as soon as the batterie looses it charge it ran very poorly. I will not guarantee that is the problem. It also defiantly needs a new choke cable. The tank has two dents on the left side. The 1982 CB 900F: This bike has no engine in it. The tires are decent, but the suspension is poor. The 1981 Engine: This is most defiantly a project. It needs machine work. All the parts to rebuild the engine are included. The carburetors: The carb on the 1981 as far as I can tell is in great shape. I just cleaned and synced it. As a result when the bike has a charged battery is runs well. The carb from the 1982 likely needs to be cleaned, but in it current state it does not run well. The fairings: I have two types of fairing for these bikes. One is not exactly a fairing, just the head lamp. The other is a full fairing with some damage on the right side. Overview: The CB's are great bikes and if you love these bikes then this a great a chance to start a project. If you want a photo or a video of something specific just ask. I will be around this week and next weekend if you want to arrange a time check these out in person. Shipping: Buyer is responsible for pick up.
