Vehicle Detail
A lot of people claim to have a rare car, this IS one. This is a 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe ordered as a Sales Vehicle February 7th, 1968 out of the Indianapolis Ordering District under Special Order #0046. This was ordered to be used in the "See the light" advertising campaign in 1968. The data plate on this car is blank where the color indicator would be showing that it was a special order color and it was painted Blue Metallic Ford # WT8821. This car was a VERY odd combination because this light blue metallic paint had a red C stripe on it and red interior(currently the interior is black, changed by a previous owner) It was equipped with the Sprint Promotion A package, C-4 Cruise-O-Matic transmission, Electric Clock, 6.95 X 14-4 ply rated white sidewall tires, Power steering, AM Radio, Tinted glass(odd for a none A/C car), Deluxe belts, Remote control left hand mirror and wheel covers. The statistics get down to showing that there were ONLY 35 Mustangs in 1968 with custom paint colors...meaning that covers ALL colors...this is most likely the ONLY one of it's kind with these options and this color. If you want a Mustang to show that is VERY unique and one of a kind that will definitely get everyone's attention at a show, THIS is the car. I'd be willing to bet that at a National MCA show this car even with a 6 cylinder will get more attention than any big block Mach 1 or Shelby simply because of it's odd combination and rarity! This would have to be the lowest cost involved restoration for a car rarer than almost any Shelby! Also notice on the Marti Report that this car has no sale date...because it was used as a Sales Vehicle the sale date is unknown...it may have been sold at a Ford auction after they were finished or just put on a Ford dealer lot in the used car section. This car has been sitting for a while because I just wasn't sure where to go with it...it deserves to be restored back to original but I have way too many projects and not enough time so this one is on the block. Priced cheap to sell....you can't find a rarer Mustang example than this for the money and you'll be hard pressed to find one rarer than this. There is no engine but I do have a numbers correct transmission. The car needs the usual restoration items, floor pans, battery apron, front corners of the doors, bottom of the fenders and quarters. The car is mostly complete but a few pieces are missing that are common and easy to source. Buyer is responsible for picking up the car, located just outside Birmingham, Alabama. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange to see it in person if desired. Payment to be cash at time of pickup. Vehicle to be picked up within 10 business days of the end of the auction unless other arrangments are made prior to the end of the auction. There is NO RESERVE on this auction and there is no buy it now...The final bid will be the price and someone is going to get one RARE Mustang for a great deal!!! NOTE: Alabama is not a title state for vehicles older than 1975 so this car will be sold on a Bill of Sale...other states recognize Alabama law regarding this, there is no title issued for any vehicle older than 1975 in this state so the Bill of Sale is THE legal transfer of ownership.
