Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1999 F-250 7.3 Powerstroke diesel with a manual transmission. This auction is for THE TRUCK ONLY. The air compressor and welder are NOT included. The reason for selling is because i don't use it enough to justify having an extra vehicle & I plan to just mount my welder and compressor on a trailer. If you are wanting either the compressor or welder with the truck (I will only sell if you buy the truck), then read the last paragraph. I bought this truck about 3 years ago from Kosciosko Mississippi and trailered it back to Ohio. I parked it behind my dads barn and never titled it or drove it until last fall. I'm in the guard & was gone alot of that time, so it just kind of sat and got forgotton about until i titled it on 11/08-2010, so it has only been driven in 1 Ohio winter, even though it has been in Ohio for 3 years. The pictures underneath the truck will show that it is a southern truck. The truck has, in my opinion, the best diesel ever made - 7.3 liter powerstroke. I replaced the glow plugs & glow plug relay over the winter & now it starts pretty easily without being plugged in. The engine idles smooth, doesn't use any oil or leak any oil. I put a rebuild kit in the turbocharger, which included bearings and a new compressor wheel. The reason i did this was because it feels like it doesn't spool up as quickly as my last powerstroke did & is slow to accelerate. The rebuild kit didn't help any & still is slow to accelerate - I believe it may have something to do with the wastegate needing adjusted, but i'm selling it as is, so bid accordingly. It still has good power & I have recently driven it to Florida with my equipment trailer to pick up an F-150 and it pulled it back fine. I still wouldn't hesitate to drive this across the country, but I want you to be aware of all the problems. 2 other things requiring attention are 1, the air conditioning does NOT work & was told it needs a compressor. Secondly, the 3rd/4th gear synchronizers are going out on the transmission. I have driven it for 10,000 miles like this & if you shift with care, you will never grind them, but if you try to throw it in gear before the engine RPM's come back down - they will grind when going into these gears. When down shifting into these gears, i put it in neutral, let the clutch out and rev up the engine, then push in the clutch & it will go into gear. If you try to just shove it in gear without doing this - they will grind. This transmission is an S6-650 or also called a ZF-6. Like i said earlier - I pulled an F-150 on my trailer from Florida to Ohio with no problems - but it is something to be aware of. Last fall, i had the starter rebuilt & bought 2 new Exide batteries. I also replaced both rear calipers & changed the brake pads on the rear because one caliper was dragging. I also replaced the water pump and belt. There was a factory recall on the cam position sensor, so I had the dealership replace that about a month ago. The tires were brand new at 156,582 miles, so they have approx 10,000 miles on them currently. They have lots of tread left (75% or more). The wheels have very little corrosion. The body is in pretty good condition - a couple little dings and scuffs, but very good for the age of the vehicle. You can see by the pictures in the door jams and underneath the truck, that it is very rust free. Another area that these types of trucks rust out, is the bottom floors of the utility bed - you can see in the photos that only 1 cabinet has surface rust (not rotted through) and all the others still have paint on them. It's a Rawson Koenig bed. 5 of the 6 boxes have locks on them & all work. The 6th door is missing the lock. All the doors open and close as they should, but you have to slam them sometimes to get them to latch all the way. As you can see in the pics, the drivers side of the seat has a tear in it. Also, the previous owner must have had the windows down & was spray painting the utility body white to touch it up & he got overspray on the dashboard. I haven't really tried to clean it up - it's just a work truck to me & wasn't really all that concerned about it. Overall, it's a rock solid, no frills work truck. As you are well aware, if you live in Ohio, it's far better to buy a rust free truck with a couple mechanical problems, than to buy something that doesn't currently have any problems, but has alot of rust. My reserve is $5,500.00, which i think is more than fair. read ONLY if you are interested in the compressor or welder. I will only sell these if you also buy the truck. I just bought the air compressor in February or March & was brand new at the time of purchase. It's and Atlas Copco 2 stage (175 psi) with a Honda gx390 13HP engine electric start. It's pretty much top of the line & works perfecly. If you buy the truck, I will offer this to you for $1,700 extra. If you have ever shoped for compressors, you will see that this engine with a 2 stage compressor will run you $2,000 - $2,500. The welder, I'm not sure on a price. If interested, e mail me. It's a Miller 200le with high frequency box for TIG, all the cables, no bottle. It has been sitting a couple years & would require some minor maintenance (cleaning gas tank & carb) & maybe more. Has 210 hours on it.
