Vehicle Detail

I bought this Cougar in 2000. I didn't know what I bought and the owner, didn't know what he sold. All I knew it was powerful. I drove it on weekends and such. One day I drove by Borders books and found a book on Cougars. I was shocked to see what I had ...if the numbers matched... They did. I am a retired doctor and at the time had some money in the bank. So.. I wanted to find the best restoration guy around the west coast to restore it to concourse condition. I found John Benoit. He is a Cougar Expert. He runs Cascade Classics. Known as DR. Cougar. I put it in a enclosed trailer and drove it up to the state of Washington. The car was nice, but It needed alot of work to be a concourse Cougar. I told him whatever it takes. Now if you dont know Cougars, this particular cougar is one of Mercury's holy grail cars. Dont believe me? Do some research. I have the marti report and without going into all the details... It has always been a california car. Sold in Palo Alto Ca. Is one of only 49 made with this engine/transmission. One of 8 with this paint/trim. Well thats all I needed to see. Thats why I have spent over 60,000.00 into the car. Thats why I found the best Cougar guy around to do the work. Thats why this car is probably one of the best Couger convertables out there in the real world period. It is awesome. It is correct. It is unbelievably rare. And it is ready to win shows right now. I took it to one show and got best in show. Its had less then 300 miles put on the car since the restoration. If you have been waiting for one of the very best mercury cougars ever made ... Your looking at it. This is a collector piece. If you know what I have, and have been waiting for it. Its here. I have all the documents of the restoration including a detailed book with pictures as it was being restored. Of course I have the Marti Report as well. A pristine concourse 1970 Mercury Cougar XR- 7 Convertable 428cj Dont let it slip away.On Aug-02-11 at 07:11:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to put in a short explanation..after I posted the pics on ebay.. I realized I should have put the correct battery and battery tie down in the car ..for the pics. I use the one in the pics just to start it and move it. From my shop where its kept to my house. For this auction. The pic 14 battery is correct and I have the correct tie down as well. Ebay wont alow me to change the pics after bids have been placed. I tried. however... I can send to interested parties the engine pics with battery and tiedown correctly installed. Thats one heavy battery! I am like ..god I better not drop it or bump the car with it and its like a big square hunk of awkward 50 pounds! Alot heavier then our up to date batterys. With handles. Anyway... No mishaps... and It is in the car. I have taken pics of it and I have many other photos of the cars underside if interested. Thanks and goodluck.
