Vehicle Detail
1962 VW Convertible Custom Chopped suicide doors Classic Bug. This is a one of a kind 62 VW convertible. It is an original 62 VW convertible that has been professionally chopped and still has the original bows. The color looks yellow and green in the photos but that is because of my camera I guess. The car is a real pretty green color with no yellow at all. It has suicide doors that have electric window motors installed. They power up and down but I never wired them to switches or put the track or glass in the doors. The leather power seats move up, down, back and forth and the back seat rests are also power. I am 6'1" and fit in the car with ease. The seat track will accomodate a very tall or very short person. The dash has been filled in and Speedy Gonzalez is hand painted on the right side. It has a beautiful brand new rosewood steering wheel. The horns are very loud and are controlled by a horn button under the dash. I am sure it would be easy to make the steering horn button work. The original VW backup lights are also controlled by a switch under the dash and they work fine. There are two frenched in radio antennas on the left side of the cowl but I never tried to hook them up. The good part is that the frenched openings look pretty cool. The top and matching headliner are brand new and so are the back small seat and package tray with nearly new 12" subwoofers installed. There are two hidden compartments under the back seat to install an amp on one side and the battery is already located on the other side. I did not install any other speakers or a stereo because I am positive that no matter what I picked for it, it would not work for most people. Radios and electronics are better left to the new owner to choose for themselves. The gas gage works great and it has a brand new repro gas tank. The wheels are porshe alloys and they are in great shape. They still have the center caps which I think are pretty rare. I have owned this car for 4 -5 years and the guy I bought it from told me that he had spent over $5000 in the racing motor and racing tranny. I cannot prove this statement because he had no papers. He said it was 2065 or 2200 something . I am not sure about the size but it is a screamer. I was told that this car will do a wheelie but I never tried to do it. It is lowered but I do not know how it was done. There are a couple of small rust spots on the pan but not bad at all..They are pretty small. The pan ID number matches the title. It is a very early California pink slip title. I lost the original California license plates when it went to the body shop to get painted a few years ago and I did not care because I was going to register it in Oregon. I just never got around to registering it. Look at my feedback and you will see that I am an honest person and you do not need to worry because this car is completely free of any liens and can be titled easily with the original title that is in my possession. Just to be clear.....The car looks really great but it is not perfect...It still needs some things but I am sure you will never find another like it....It's worth whatever it takes to make it 100%...I decided not to put mirrors on the car since the doors are shaved. I figured that, like the stereo, I would leave it to the new owner to choose the mirrors they like. There is a crack in the right side back glass. The back windows roll up and down very easy. I have a set of 1967 VW sedan front window regulators that go with the car. I read that if you install 1 piece Cal Look front glass you would need these 67 regulators so I will include them just in case you don't want to use the power window motors already in the doors. I was going to get the electric window motors all hooked up so never bothered with the manual regulators. What the heck they are included at no cost.....No Reserve, High Bidder Owns It....Thanks Bob 541-472-9540
