1978 VW Beetle Convertible. All work done within the last 200 miles. Converted over to carburetor, valves adjusted, timed, new plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor, oil changed, rebuilt transmission installed. Tires are brand new as well. Runs and drives great. Pans were replaced by previous owner, at some time. They're solid, with only miner surface rust in a few areas, that are easy to clean up. The convertible support rails are rock solid. The paint, is a 10+ year old Maaco job, and is bubbling up in places, but it's only surface rust. Seems to be the 2nd paint job in it's lifetime, and is not the original color. Top is in good shape, with only 2-3 small cracks. Headliner is in great shape. This car is reliable as a daily driver, or with very little work and you'd have a car worth $8-9 thousand dollars. It could use a new ignition switch. The one in it now works, but the contacts are getting loose, so it takes a little jiggling to start it. Both the electric and switch part can be replaced for less than $25, including keys, and this will eliminate the problem. The right front strut is a little worn, and could use replacement. It rides fine, but you feel that thump sound from the strut now and again. Both seats could use some tightening/shimming, they rock a bit, but this too is an easy fix. And the odo is nonoperational it stopped at 34560. I personally have been using this car as a daily driver now for weeks with no problems at all.
