Vehicle Detail

1966 Chevrolet C-10 Short-box Fleetside Pickup -Project Truck (Original Alabama Truck) -Small Block Chevy 350 engine/Vortec heads -Edelbrock aluminum intake -Holley carburetor -4-speed manual transmission w Hurst Indy shift lever -Dual exhaust w/headers and mufflers -Brand new 255/60/R15 wide raised white letter B.F. Goodrich tires on 6-lug wide GM rally rims I want to represent this truck as accurately as possible so that any potential buyers get all questions answered and there are no surprises. I purchased this truck last fall from Alabama, and brought it back to Upstate New York. The underneath of this pickup and the frame is representative of a nice southern truck, and is extremely solid. This is a good running, hard to find short box fleetside pickup that drives down the road straight, and shifts smoothly. This truck has the original drum brakes, the suspension has been lowered with all four brand new “dropped” coil springs, so it has a nice stance and sits level. The gauges except for the fuel gauge and the tachometer work well, and are functional. The engine has great oil pressure, the alternator charges well, and the engine temp stays under 160 degrees. The steering box is original, and seems to be nice and tight, and also works well. None of the glass in this truck is fogged, discolored or cracked. The headlights have been temporarily wired for functionality. The front and rear turn signals are not currently operable, neither is the horn, or the wipers. The truck has bright l.e.d. brake lights, however they are the incorrect for the period of the truck, and are actually trailer-style lights that just happen to fit (with the help of some silicone from the previous owner). New rocker panels have been welded in, but the welds were not ground smooth, also from a previous owner. The cab behind the passenger’s seat has had a crude patch welded in. The bed floor has had two pieces of steel placed over the top of the original wood. The door handles have been shaved, and a door release cable has been installed, but needs to be adjusted or replaced. The tachometer is in the dash, but not currently connected. The grille has been spray painted white, but could be sandblasted or replaced with a new chrome grille. The headlight trim rings are missing that mount over the lights as part of the grille trim. The paint-job, (completed before I acquired the truck) is a pearl orange with clear coat and does have some shine to it, however much of the body work done on the doors and fenders prior to painting is very poor. To make this into a presentable truck, it should have both doors and both fenders replaced, since the edges of both doors and fenders are rough, and also have fiberglass in them. The hood hinges need to be adjusted or possibly replaced. Also, the driver’s side of the hood has been poorly repaired (please see all photos). As a result of this paint-job, there is also overspray on some of the window chrome, and most of the window rubber. With some work, this truck could be presentable. If left as is, with a little work it also could make someone a reliable driver. Since acquiring the truck, I have upgraded or replaced a few parts, below is a detailed list. Here is what I have replaced with brand new (unless specified) parts since the fall of 2010: -Rear coil springs (5” drop)New mounts and hardware -Front coil springs (3” drop) -Rear chrome bumper and mounting brackets -Chrome Chevrolet/GM bowtie wheel centers -Molded carpet -Two-color seat covers w/headrest covers -Halogen headlights -B. F. Goodrich raised white letter tires -Shifter boot -Shifter knob (period correct) -Door sill plates -Fender emblems -Interior light -Front marker light lenses -Rubber brake and rubber clutch pedal covers -Gauges panel (a new plastic one was fabricated and painted black) -Fan belt -Spark plugs -Battery (last fall) -Tailgate graphics/lettering -Glove box insert Used Parts: -Used tailgate -Sanded/primed/re-painted wheels -Used (period correct) GM steering wheel/horn button -Used correct GM chrome rear view mirror -Used polished gas cap I have many more pictures available.
