This auction is for a 1954 Ford Sunliner Crestliner Convertible. It belongs to a good friend of mine who asked me to list it for him. I will give you as accurate a discription as I can from what he told me and what I actually see. To begin with this car was in the prior owners family since new. Her sister bought the car new and passed away sometime in 1968. The car was left to the other sister who has had it in storage since then. Her husband planned on restoring the car but passed away approx 5 years ago. My friend heard about the car and was able to purchase it. The car has 59,000 original miles, has the factory 239 V-8, 2 BBL, 3 Speed Column Manual Shift (no overdrive), No power Steering or Brakes, single exhaust. Does have Power Top. Everything seems to be intact but is unhooked at the present moment so we just put the top down by hand. The material is on it but in rough shape. All the windows are in good condition and roll up and down nicely. Windshield has a wiper scratch but may be able to be buffed out. The car is original black car with the original black and coral interior. We pulled out the rubber floor mat in the car and trunk one also as they were brittle and breaking up. The floor pan for the most part is solid. There is a rust hole on the left and right side toe board and a spot on the drivers side just behind where the seat bolts. These are all areas that can be repaired rather than panel replacement but that is up to you. Trunk floor is also very solid with only one hole on each side by the tail panel. Also very fixable. Frame is solid. There are a few braces that do have some rust out and probably should be replaced. As far as the outside body shell, there was amature work done on the lower front fender bottoms, rocker panels and lower outer rear quarters. These would need to be cut off and replaced with proper panels. Inner rear quarters look fine. Stainless is in decent shape. Chrome on the grille and bumpers are showing age and surface rust and will need to be replated. I cleaned the points and put on an alternative fuel source as I wasnt sure about the tank. The car started instantly and idled like it was running yesterday! No smoking, ticking, funny noises, just runs great. Does have an exhaust leak on passenger side. I drove the car around the yard. Shifts fine, brakes are working, go figure. I tried the lights and they all work. Interior lights work, horn works, couldnt get the turn signals working. I do not have a battery and I will be taking the fuel can off. You dont see too many of these convertibles out there especially a one owner car. This car has not been shopped around. I truly believe this is worthy of a restoration or you could clean it up, fix a few things and drive it like it is.
