Vehicle Detail
My father bought this car for my mother in 1983 and imported it from Germany to Washington, DC. It has been her baby ever since. Sadly it has become too much for her to maintain two cars so she's asked me to sell it. Always garage kept and meticulously maintained. Never been in any accidents. Nobody has ever smoked in the car. Everything is original to the car including the paint. The interior is spotless....no rips or tears of any kind. All electronics work perfectly....windows, sunroof, radio. Heating and air conditioning work perfectly although I do know that my mother's only complaint about the car since her first summer with it in DC was that, "the Germans don't make air conditioning like the Americans." Meaning that it has never blasted out cold air. There is no rust anywhere on the car except for an approximately 4" line on the rear driver's side wheel well. The last picture shows the area. The tires are in very good condition....I would say they are 75% new (Michelin all season radials). There are no maintenance records...I asked my mother and got the "why on earth would I have kept those" look from her. I do know she serviced the car regularly with a MB specialist in Maryland. The only major system that she ever had a problem with was the fuel pump which was replaced 5-6 years ago. Other than that the car's been flawless to drive. But if you know these cars then you know that part of their appeal is that the engine is very simple...not a lot of moving parts to break down. This car does not have a VIN because it was a European model not manufactured for the US market. It has a serial number issued when it was converted in the US to meet safety and emission standards. The serial number is 1231301A038810. What more can I tell you? I'd be happy to answer any questions or take additional pictures if needed. For Mercedes enthusiasts you know this was an iconic model. Great mileage. Not going to set any speed records but this is an excellent cruiser. And it might not be for everyone but I love the sound of these diesels. Car is sold as is and the buyer is responsible for transportation. Please note: I am re-listing this car one time only and I have eliminated the reserve...I meed to get this car out of my driveway :-) Thanks for your interest.
