This is a clean, rust free example of a well loved classic that has the benefit of substantial performance upgrades. This is a original California car and has had only three owners in its life. The original owner, a retired engineer purchased the car from the Bakersfield BMW dealership and had them install the BAE Turbo. The second owner, a BMW collector in Texas purchased the car from the original owner and kept it for a year before selling it to me. I have owned it for the past three years. The original owner painstakingly upgraded every component in his 24 years of ownership. He told me that he had never driven the car in the rain in all his years of owning it. The car has never been tracked but is fitted with racing harnesses. A career change forces me to part with this exceptionally clean, great handling and powerful example of BMW engineering. I have owned several BMW's over the years including a e30 M3 and this is by far the most fun to drive! The reserve is set below the previous listing high bid. The engine has been purpose built for the turbo and has approximatly 10k miles on it: 2100cc, Fuel Injected, 7800 rpm redline 221 hp at rear wheels. (Willow Springs Dynojet Dynamometer) 3rd gear @ 6000 rpm and 12psi Boost. Original block, crank, and head casting. 92mm bore X 80mm stroke 8.2:1 compression ratio, cusom JE forged pistions with Total-Seal riong set. Race prepared factory connecting rods. ARP rod bolts Factory crankshaf ground .010/.010, Nitride hardened, counterweights profiled/ lightened ARP head studs. Elring big boar head gasket. Cylinder head fully ported polished by TOP-End Performance Stainless steel 46mm intake and 38mm exhaust valves Turbo grind camshaft, Dual valve springs 325i radiator A metric mechanic close ratio 5sp and lightened flylwheel deliver power to a metric mechanic LSD rear. The suspension is tuned and 4 corners blanced(springs, poly bushings, strut bars etc) brakes upgraded and slotted rotors, stainless brake lines. The fuel delivery system is Bosche mechanical injection and beefed up with a Porsche and Volvo Turbo components and sports an additional 5th injector. The custom Scirocco twin air to water intercoolers. An MSD ingnition system gives it plenty of spark. The turbo is a rebuilt set at 12 psi(adjustable to 16 psi boost). The exhaust is handled by 2 1/4 tubing and a MagnaFlow muffler. The air filter is a high flow K &N. The Bimmer retains the updated A/C, and has Hella H-4's to light the way. It has a new pioneer deck with remote, Alarm, power door locks and older power window conversion (passenger switch only raises passenger side window but it can be lowered by drivers side switches) A set of brand new Yokohama tires is waiting to be mounted and included. The current set is worn especially in front but not worn out. The car is CA SMOG legal and passes with no problems. Its currently registered and clean title in hand. The A/C needs a recharge, there is a crack at the bottom of front air dam. A finicky headlight and the intermittant odomerter are on the 'to do list'. The dash has two cracks in the usual place. Boxes of extra parts, and 2 car covers. It is a driver not a show car but wears its 28 year age extremely well. Its starts easily (even after sitting for months), Idles smoothly and the acceleration is amazing. All 5 gears shift smoothly. The braking is powerful and true. It does not drip or burn any oil. All windows and doors seals are in good shape and do not leak. The sunroof cranks open smoothly and seals tightly. The front seats have always been covered in real sheepskins and I doubt anyone has sat in the rear as it looks new. There are no tears or rips in any of the upholstery or headliner. The paint shines and is in execellent condition. There is zero rust and no body damage. The car has been garaged its entire life. I will assist in any inspections and shipping arrangements at the buyers expense. Sacramento International Airport is close, fly in and drive it home.
