Vehicle Detail

up for no reserve auction is a 1964 1/2 "d" code 4 spd project coupe mustang.the "d" code is the 289 4 bbl 64 1/2 engine. i purchased this car in '06 to use as a donor car for a 64 1/2 "d" code convertible. the convertible is also listed on ebay. so please check out that auction as well. this is a running car. i have only moved it around the yard, under it's own power. it has no exhaust and very little brakes. i ran it off of a gas bottle because the fuel in the line smells very old. i tested all gears and clutch feels good. carb will need rebuilt. i am not sure if the motor and trans are number matching, not even sure how to check. but i'm sure someone will inform me. i even have it's original owner's manual(rough condition) and a copy of the original purchase order. it sold for 3,020.25 . it was built on may 22,1964. pretty early considering they started production in april. this car will need a complete restoration. it has rust in floor pans and frame rails. all shown in pics. the quater panels were repaired at one time but will need work to be right. the interior is decent with the exception of the drivers seat. it has a replacement headliner that goes with it. it has nice carpet that was removed to get to the floor pans. it has a complete drivers side replacement pan and a pass front replacement pan included in auction. the heater box was removed but is with the car. overall the car looks very complete. all glass is good, drivers window is off track though. the lights work, and still has the 64 generator on it. the horn ring says falcon sprint on it, i was told that some early one's had these from factory, not positive on that though. as i said before, this was bought to use as a donor to complete my convertible. not saying that this one is not worthy of restoration, to each his own, i just prefer convertibles. and this is a much more complete car with all the required early mustang parts. i have sold several classic cars here, all with good transactions and good feedback. i list all that i know, nothing to hide. the car can be inspected at any time during auction, and i will be happy to answer any questions you may have. email or call 302-531-5185 for more info. the car rolls fine and would be easy to load. i can assist in loading if needed. "0" feedback bidders must contact me, by phone, prior to bidding or your bid will be canceled. open communication always works the best. a 200.00 deposit is required within 48 hrs of auction close. balance due within 5 days. the car can remain here for a reasonable time to accomodate pickup or shipping. remember, this is a no reserve auction, so bid to win. thanks for looking and good luck. data plate info body 65a coupe color h caspian blue trim 86 black vinyl date 22e may 22, 1964 axle 1 3.00 trans 5 4 speed dso 15 newark don't miss out on your chance to own one of these very collectible early mustangs. On Jul-10-11 at 07:23:06 PDT, seller added the following information: i added a pic of the horns for all who wanted to know if it still has the 64.5 factory horns. yes they are both still there. i did some more research on the 64.5 mustangs. production started march 9, 1964, not april as i noted before. they went on display in new york at the world fair on april 17, 1964. the press was allowed to view the car on april 16th. an interesting note on that, the original purchase order i have for this car is dated 4-16-64 and was ordered from a nj dealership. it was delivered to the owner on 6-1-64. the hood on the car is also the correct 64.5 hood without the folded edge. it has the correct 64.5 master cylinder. however, it has an adjustable pass seat, so that is not 64.5 correct. i hope this helps all who are interested in the car.
