Here is a RARE 1931 Roadster Pickup just purchased from the original owning family in Central Texas. The truck was purchased new and used a response vehicle for a small family garage (name still shows on both doors) in Noack, Texas. The truck was later purchased by the great nephew of the original owner in the early sixties. He drove the truck home to Jarrell, Texas and put the car in the garage on the family farm and left for the Army planning to restore it after his return. Upon his return his interests had changed and the truck sat in the garage untouched for nearly 50 years. Rumors of the trucks existence were widespread in the small community, only problem was it was NOT for sale and only a couple people knew where it was really located. One person who knew where it was all that time recently was offered the truck decided he wasn't going to buy it so he took us out to see the truck and its long-time owner. The truck is indeed a factory built commercial Roadster Pickup which differs in body style from the more commonly seen passenger car based Roadster Pickup. The truck is amazingly COMPLETELY intsact with all the factory wood still in the cab and in decent condition. The sheet metal has seen its share of use, but the cab can be easily repaired where it has rusted along the bottom of the panel- or just leave as is and enjoy the patina. The truck is only missing the original top assembly and the taillight- the rest is ALL THERE- nothing to go look for! After all the years in storage soft parts like the tires, upholstery, belts and hoses have all deteriorated away, but the engine still spins, trans shifts and truck rolls on its own. We believe with a little work and new hoses and wires it would run again. All gauges are intact and key that was left in the ignition still turns. The frame is in very good condition with nothing missing- even has the factory spare tire holder underneath with hardware. The rear wheel on the driver's side is incorrect, but the correct wheel and spare were in the bed and included with the truck. With all the rare parts intact a restoration would be simple, but would be even cooler to get this one on the road as a survivor. Years as a magazine editor attending car shows all over the country has allowed me to see that in the past decade a rare car like this in this condition will draw a much larger crowd and admiration than a fully restored example of the same model. If you are interested in having up get it running and driving at our complete classic car facility that may be discussed as well at an additional cost.On Jul-04-11 at 09:51:12 PDT, seller added the following information: An expert looked at this truck and from the pictures found it to be a 1932 Model instead of a 1931. Differences in the '32 from the '31 is the '32 has a Downdraft carb- and a '32 has five crossmembers in the frame which this truck does making it definitely a 1932 Model. While the sheetmetal stayed the same on these commercial trucks from 1930 to 1932 the production numbers did not- over 10,000 were made in 1930, 2,200 in 1931 and only 464 in 1932 making this the most rare year of this model. The factory had called these commercial based roadster pickups "Roadster Deliveries".
