Up for bid is a 1956 Chevrolet Pickup 3100. Just a little bid of history...I bought this from my uncle, the original owner, about sixteen years ago. He bought it new in 1957 and in later years used it as a farm truck. It was running until the u-joint broke and he just parked it. I have the miles at 378545 because my uncle felt that it had rolled over at least three times but no one knows for sure. About a year ago I brought it to Texas and started to take it apart to get a better idea of the rust and damage and made a list of parts that would bring it back to original. As much as I would love to continue with this project, the work involved is beyond my abilities. Anyone who knows these trucks are aware that parts and body panels are available from many sources. The truck is completely original. It has the orginal 235 6 cyl engine. Before I started to take the truck apart I did connected a battery and the engine did crank over. I have all the original parts and fasteners that did not break due to rust in labeled plastic bags. I believe that the cab can be saved with some patch panels on the floor pan and back corners of the cab. The front fenders in my opinion would have to be replaced as well as the right rear fender. All of those pieces will go with the truck and you can be the judge. The doors are in good shape. The hood has a hole and two dents that can be fixed. Included are all the parts from the engine. The pics looks as if it is missing a great deal of parts, but I do have them all. The pics of the truck in the field was taken the day that I picked it up so you get a better idea of the originality. The other pics are after I started to disassemble the truck. The bed is also disassembled. There is a hole in the frame that can be patched (pic #13). Most small parts have been cleaned and in some cases have been resprayed. The carb has been rebuilt and is included.
