Vehicle Detail

Up for auction with no reserve is a project 2003 Mustang Convertible. I bought this car about a year ago and collected most of the parts needed to put it back on the road, but haven't had the time to do any work to it. If you can wrench and weld and are up to a project, you can save a ton and have a fun summer car! I will do my best to describe what issues it has and what work needs to be done to make it road worthy again. It was previously in an accident, but whoever "fixed" it didn't do a good job. First off is the biggie. The front frame rails were swayed to the side and kinked. They pulled them back, but they cracked. Instead of sectioning them, they just hung the sheet metal on and put the car back together. The aprons and upper rails appear to have been replaced but whoever welded them in didn't do a very good job. The shock towers and suspension appear unharmed. I bought a rust free inner structure from the firewall foreward. What needs to be done is cut the spotwelds from the aprons and upper rails, cut the frame rails and replace the structure in front of the shock towers as a whole. You can then reassemble the sheet metal, touch up some of the paintwork as needed and be back on the road! I also have a used hood to replace the poorly repaired one on the car, and a used set of headlights to replace the badly hazed ones on the car now. The only other issues I know of are, the motor mounts are broken and the plastic fender liners and fuel door are missing. The convertible top works great and doesnt leak, but does have an area that the outer cloth is cracking from the top material. The wheels are scuffed and damaged from the accident, but the tires are almost new! It starts right up and I have driven it around my property. The transmission engages nicely and shifts through all the gears. There are no leaks under the car. In a nutshell, If you can do the work needed, or know someone who can, you can have a low mile, red Mustang GT to drive this summer for probably less than half what it would cost to go buy one. All the major parts needed are there. The car needs work, but is priced accordingly. With some work, it can be back on the road for more time than money. If you are the kind of person that likes the pride of fixing cars and saving a ton of money, this is your project! See the pics for more details and feel free to ask questions. Remember, its a NO RESERVE AUCTION! High bidder wins! Thanks & good luck!!
