Up for auction is this 1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 Coupe. We took this car in trade a couple of years ago with the intention of using some parts but we sold the car that the parts were going to be used for so we are listing this car the way it is. Looks to me like this car could have been parted at one time and put back together and then put back on the road. I sent for the PHS documents and it says the car was burgandy with red interior, a factory 2+2 car, power steering, power brakes, 421 V-8 with 4BBL, Automatic trans, Safe T track rear, buckets with console and a few other misc options. In looking at this car it also has the exact same options but with air conditioning and power windows. Thought this a little bit strange. Going more indepth, I noticed the VIN tag is in the correct place but with regular rivets not tac welded like factory. So it appears somewhere down the line this body was re-tagged. Car now has a 1972 GTO 455 base motor with automatic transmission. I took the time to run an alternate fuel source and jumper wires and the motor fired right up. It does run real good. Trans goes right into gear but I could not drive it around as it has no brakes, missing the alternator. Has new 4 core radiator. Has fairly recent dual exhaust system. There is fuel in the tank but it smells old. All the interior is intact, dyed black but would need to be re-done. Original floor shifter still there (not hooked up), dash and steering column was changed out and car shifts from the column. Floors appear decent and solid, trunk pan has rust out on both sides. Frame is solid in some places and rotted out in other places and will need replacement. I have a nice clean Oklahoma Convertible frame at an extra cost. The outside body isnt too bad. It has had the lower rear quarters replaced. Someone took the real nice doors and replaced them with solid damaged ones that can be repaired. There is a little rust on the bottom of both front fenders. Bumpers are good solid cores to rechrome. As you see in the pics, there are a lot of extra 1965 Catalina parts that I am including with the sale. Extra steering columns and wheels, dash clusters, tail light panel and tail lights, heater parts, moldings, grill, glass...etc. Still a good builder project or excellent treasure trove of parts. If you need a title in your area I am willing to register the car and give you proper dealer transfer paperwork. This would be an extra $150 for this service.
