Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a very nice 1958 Ford Country Sedan Four door Wagon. I purchased this car from a gentleman who bought it from the original owner in 1959. The owners had several children so they all could ride in it, and go on vacations. They drove it for several years until the motor got tired. He then had a 1960's 390 Mercury motor with a three speed automatic with an aftermarket air conditioner expertly installed. Besides that this car is completely stock. I don't believe there is one dent in this vehicle, however there is some rusting on the rocker panels. The rocker on the right side may need to be replaced, the other is very repairable. The floorboard on the right side has some holes, and they have put sheet metal to cover them up. The left side floorboards are good, and the rest of the under carriage looks good. We started the motor and it sounded healthy like a 390, and we checked the compression and it had a very good reading of 150-155. we ran the motor with an auxillary gas tank and drove it around the block. The transmission felt good, and the brakes still work. The motor has a soft plug out on the right side under the motor mount, and also may have a water intake leak. The dash is very nice in this car, all the gauges work and its also got an automatic signal finding radio or Wunderbar style which still works. Also working is the 8-track stereo with four speakers. Under the dash is the ARA Air Conditioning system and it looks like it may still be functional. Everything on the dash is complete even the glove box light works. The paint on the inside is still all original. The interior is really nice, the seats have been redone with roll and bleat cloth. The door panels are all original with some repair needed. The headliner is in near mint condition. The rear seat is the rare folding down kind and all still works great. The floor has blue 60's shag carpet. The glass is good except it needs two side glasses and the windshield is cracked. The body on this car is almost perfect, it doesn't appear to have been wrecked. No rust around the headlight areas or rear hatch. This old wagon still has the stock hubcaps, beauty rings and whitewall tires, that will need to be replaced someday. The side chrome is excellent with the gold insert. I dont see anything missing on this car. The rear door is excellent with no rust and works great. The bumpers are good, bout would need to be rechromed if this were a restoration project. This car appears to be painted once, it looks like the car was white originally with a blue top and blue interior. This Ford wagon is in very good shape, and would make an excellent restoration project, or you could use it as is. Stationwagons like this one are getting to be very popular and worth a lot of money.
