1980 Indy 500 Turbo Trans Am Pace Car, 36,XXX original miles. Purchased new by my father in May 1980 in Geneva OH. The car developed an exhaust manifold leak in the 90’s and was put in storage until 2007. The stereo, power antenna, power locks, and tachometer quit working while in storage. In 2007 it was taken out of storage and the cylinder heads were removed to repair the broken manifold bolts. At that time some bolt on upgrades were added. An Isky performance cam & lifter kit was installed, the heads were ported, along with the intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, turbocharger and turbo plenum. The carburetor has had a Cliff Ruggles rebuild, it has Comp cams 1.65 roller rockers. Mr. Gasket electric fan, Holley electric fuel pump, Edelbrock double roller timing chain set, and a Turbonetics manual boost controller added. All original parts taken off are boxed and come with the car. Runs very strong, but does need a high torque starter as the factory style starter labors to turn it over. It does have rust inside the trunk on the corners of the trunk lid frame (see picture) from washing it and not being driven to dry it off. I have grease on the rust now until it can be fixed. Car comes with 2 extra engine blocks, an extra transmission and torque converter, 2 crank shafts, pistons, rebuilt turbocharger, drive shaft, intake manifold and some other odds and ends. Selling because I am losing my storage space and don’t want to put it outside. Sorry forgot to add: Car is also listed locally so auction may end early if asking price is met. I removed the reserve and have decided whoever offers the most will own it. If your interested bid to win if you wait till the end you may miss out since it is also for sale locally.
