Generally speaking, it was the best-looking of fourth-generation T-Birds. It was also — at least potentially — the quickest. While the base 390 V8 was now restricted by a two-barrel carburetor to 275 hp, a 315-hp version with a four-barrel was optional and a new 428-cubic-inch V8 with a four-barrel carb making 345 hp optional. This vehicle is equipped with this option. The 1966 Ford Thunderbird Landau is a very beautiful car, IMO, the most beautiful of the T-Bird two seaters. It appears smaller than it is due to its deceptively elegant lines. The perfect "personal luxury automobile". A big powerful motor under the hood and a big roomy trunk in back. Plus stretch out room for passengers. And a wrap around "living room comfortable" back seat. This car came with everything. Some of the options work and some don't. But nothing serious to fix. The AC is all there. Belt is missing and it has not been run in a long time so I would not say whether or not it would work. The radio works fine. The 1966 Landau with the "Q" code option is the rarest and most valuable of all "Flairbird" Coupes. The "Q" code denotes the optional 345 HP 428 cid V-8 engine. There is a HUGE difference in performance between a "Q" code engine, and the standard 390 cid V-8. There were reportedly only 600 of these engines produced. Given that some 45 years have passed since then, there are probably not very many of these rare engines left. Certainly not on the road and running as well as this one. Mileage is very low; only 57,245!I have owned this car for over 12 years. I recently had considerable mechanical improvements made to the car, including: major tune up, new fuel pump, new disc brakes, new brake pads, new battery, new fuel pump, etc. $2,248. spent. Receipts available. Car has been in storage for the 12 years I owned it. It is a Texas car and my mechanic found it to be re-markedly rust free. The bumpers have not been re-chromed and do not need to be. The car drives beautifully and has power to spare. The body is the original metallic ivy green, official Ford color in 1966, a beautiful dark green with vinyl roof to match. Original interior is Desert tan and Olive green. The dash is really nice. No sun damage. There are some flaws in the exterior paint which I have pictured. The car has not been wrecked at any time to my knowledge. This car was shown in the 2011 Bluebonnet Festival Car Show in Burnet, TX. It received a lot of interest and favorable remarks. Many were astonished that the interior is original. It just needs a little TLC to be competitive in car shows. I am just not able to give it what it deserves. A rare piece of American automotive history. You could own this beauty. Make it yours.
