Vehicle Detail
The Ford Cortina Gt Mk1 was a popular race and rally car in the 1960s, especially in Europe. They are rarely seen here in the USA and are highly prized by both collectors and vintage race enthusiasts. The Cortina GT had the most powerful engine in the Cortina line except for the Lotus engined model. The Cortina GT came with a 1498CC motor and produced 78 horsepower. Its extra horsepower was due to a different camshaft profile, a different cast of heads featuring larger ports, tubular headers, and a Weber two barrel carb. This car has been in a barn for years. It has some very nice period accessories such as Dunlop D1 alloy wheels, fender mounted mirrors, Bap/Geon air cleaner, vintage SCCA sticker, side exit exhaust, and more. I was told the previous owner raced the car but I don't have any documentation or see evidence of safety equipment. The previous owner put oil in the cylinders before putting the car up for storage and the engine easily turns by hand. The motor still has its Weber carb and header. While these cars are notorious for rust and yes, this car has some it is not that bad. I've taken pictures of EVERY single place. No rust in either the front shock towers or inner wings. Look closely at the pictures of the inside of the fenders and wheel wells-solid. The floors are solid except for a small hole underneath the gas pedal. There is rust thru on both windshield pillars. It is contained to this area and doesn't affect the door hinges which still help this car have perfect door gaps. There is rust where the rockers meet the doors. On the passenger side rear corner there is rust. Holes on both sides of the hood. Rust thru on the spare tire well. The body is dent free with no indication of previous heavy damage. Missing some of the passenger side trim and front bumper. The original interior is there but tatty. All the glass is good. I believe one gauge and the dash pad is missing. Clear open Florida title. This is a very rare car and highly sought after car. It would be a great car to restore for rally or vintage racing or just to drive. Please check out this picture link. I've taken pictures of every area on this car including any rusty places.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/50922625@N04/sets/72157626758512549/
