In San Diego up for NO RESERVE auction is an awesome head turner. 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. It was donated by a well off gentleman in the L.A. area. Please make sure you have the funds on hand and are ready to pay for it before you place your bid. Mechanical: It has a V8 with an automatic transmision. It runs very well. Start easy and purrs. Transmisson shifts well. Power steering works well. As good as it runs, I'm tempted to say drive it home. But since that it's 54 years old, it should be shipped. I have driven it a few times around town and got thumbs up at practically every intersection. Cosmetics: The car is pretty complete. The body is very solid and strong. The lines are fair. The body panels are solid and tight. The hood closes nicely. The trunk doesn't close tightly right now. The trunk motor works but we don't know how to secure it. If I can get it repaired properly, I'll post the result or photo. Otherwise, I would secure it for shipping purposes. trunk is missing the Cadillac emblem. All 4 power windows work. Tube radio works. Speedometer works, showing you how fast you're driving. Odometer doesn't work. It's stuck at 54,250. Convertible top fabric is good, mechanism works fine when opening and closing. It has a 3 piece fiberglass boot. I have no idea how to install it and that's why I just have them laying on the top for the photos. Interior overall is good. Upholstery is very good. Dash is beautiful. Carpet, door panels are very good. Rear interior panels next the rear seats are fair. Windshield and all glass is very good with no crack. No obvious rock chip. Please look at the photos closely as they do a lot better job than my description. All 4 tires are good and had held air very well. It does have a spare tire. All 5 wheels are missing te center caps. From looking at the other '57 on Ebay, I believe those are factory wheels. The chrome has minor pitting at places. This vehicle is smog exempt in CA. I have a clean and clear CA title for the auction winner. Registration expired May 28, 2011 but plan nonoperation had been filed with CA DMV, so there's no back fee or penalty.
