1949 Ford F-1 V8 pickup truck 6/14/11. I purchased this eye-catching truck in the thrill of the moment after another vehicle (which was my primary goal) and some other farm equipment at an auction in May. Now I can barely get in and out of my driveway due to all the vehicles, so decided I'd have to let this one go and just keep the one other. As such, I put this ad up quickly prior to having extensive knowledge about the truck. I'll update as I find out things. This truck starts, idles, and runs very well. Actually, unexpectedly quite fun to drive! Brakes and parking brake work very well. While not mint or 100% rust free, I'm amazed at how rust-free the body is, and generally very impressed with the overall condition of the interior, engine, and body. I've been under it, in it, and under the hood: it appears to be an unrestored original F-1 with original flat-head V8. It's been repainted once more recently (thus the shine), and spent its whole life in North Carolina. Obviously has never seen salt or severe weather exposure. It still has its original 1949 license plate. Mind you, this was a truck that was actually used, not a garage queen. Even so, it was exceedingly well-cared for to have lasted in this condition for 61 years. It is fine left as is, or a superb and easy candidate for a full on show restoration. Believe me, I've been through the professional show restoration process before and know what to look for. I don't know what the mileage really is.. whether that's actual or it has flipped over once. I'll find out more from the seller. I have driven it a few times and note that the gas pedal itself is missing, but a nub is there to press on and easy enough to drive with just that. I don't know if I need to try doubleclutching, but the clutch might need adjusting as it doesn't seem to disengage enough when I push the pedal in (as opposed to being worn out and slipping) -- I ground the gears (lightly) several times when shifting. The truck was, at some point, converted to 12V, as the battery is 12V and it starts extremely easily (relative to a sluggish 6V system). Have a look at the photos below. I'll add more soon of any flaws I discover, as well as fluff out this ad as I examine the truck more carefully.
