~ '36 FORD 2-Door Sedan, " SLANTBACK " Hot Rod, Rat Rod ~ Just out of four-year dry storage and ready to be taken to the next level. Hot Rod resto was begun about six years ago and a ton of the hard work is already done. Body is in good condition with all steel sheetmetal - no fiberglass fenders or panels. Roof insert has been nicely filled (steel) and full NEW Bitchin' Products steel floors installed and painted. Exterior painted in Hot Rod Black primer and will require final prep and paint (or not). Interior is bare - no carpeting, trim panels or headliner. Original bows/tack strips in good shape. Has all interior garnish moldings except those for the windshield. Back seat appears to be original. Split-back front bench fits well, but may not be original. Both seats need fresh cushions and coverings. Good dash, nice uncut firewall. Glass is only in fair condition and should be replaced with new Safety Glass. Driver's door and both rear quarter windows roll up and down fine. Pass. door riser assembly needs repair. The frame is solid and rust-free. It has late Flathead Ford hydraulic brakes, with a rebuilt '40 Ford brake & clutch pedal assembly, new master cylinder, lines and hoses. All original handbrake components in place but not connected. New TUBE shocks and mounts all around. NEW reproduction Gas Tank and Sender, but no gauge yet. Firewall-mounted Electric Fuel Pump. Later Flathead Ford running gear with closed driveshaft and banjo rear axle. Springs and suspension components are good. Steering is heavy and will need some attention - probably needs the box rebuilt and a column bearing to smooth it out. Stock, undroppped front axle. 15" steel wheels are believed to be from an older Jeep. Tires are good. The engine is a bone-stock, '52 8BA FLATHEAD from a F-1 Pickup. Runs OK but would benefit from a Time & Tune after storage. Flatty has 40 lbs. of oil pressure at hot idle but some blow-by out the filler tube. No fluid leaks. Old FOMOCO carburetor could use rebuilding. The Transmission is a '39-style, Top Shifted Ford 3-Speed. Shifts smoothly and has a new clutch disc installed. The electrics have been converted to 12 volts via a new alternator. A single electric pusher fan ahead of the cleaned, original radiator helps with the cooling. Headlights converted to 12v. sealed beams, new '39 Ford teardrop taillamps, loud, two-note AUTO-LITE snail horns mounted on the firewall, good battery with new battery box and cables, New oil, temp, and ammeter gauges. Original speedometer still works. New straight pipe Dual Exhaust (no mufflers) make it WAY too loud - A pair of SMITHY'S would tone down the bark. Other new parts installed include the steering wheel, outside door handles and headlight trim rings. Unless your State exempts antique cars from State Inspection as a condition of Registration, you will need to add various Safety items including directional signals, mirrors, seat belts, etc. to pass. This car has only been yard-driven and is NOT a street legal, turn-key cruiser. It will require some more time and money put into it. Close to hitting the road but still needs some sorting out. A great start on a rare body style Ford Hot Rod for well under $9K !
