VIDEO - STARTING UP / DRIVING / WALK AROUND This is a video I made May 9th, 2011 at the dealership after the batteries were installed. It includes a walk around, the car starting up and driving around a bit. As you'll see the paint job is really clean for it's age but there are more detailed pictures below. There is a link to the video on Youtube and it's embedded below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiT5xwJfjkw MY HISTORY WITH THE CAR While living in Los Angeles I bought this car in Northern California in May of 2007. I drove it back down to LA and it was my daily driver. In the summer of 2009 I had the radiator re-cored and drove the car across country from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. then back to Memphis where I lived for a year. It was my daily driver in Memphis. In the summer of 2010 I drove it from Memphis to visit family in the Detroit area. It overheated on the way so I put it into storage at a friends in Northern Kentucky. As you can see I'm still moving around quite a bit, I'm moving to New York City as we speak, and it's time to let her go. DEALER INSPECTION / REPAIRS Even though the car started up after the Chevrolet dealership put in new batteries, I had it inspected. They provided an estimate of $2415.77 to make repairs including the head gaskets. For car people, this would be a fun project. For non-car people, keep in mind this a dealer estimate so it's going to be on the pricier side. Please download the invoice but this is what it says: CUSTOMER STATES ENGINE OVERHEATS WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR OVERHEATED ONCE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, NOTED THAT THE COOLANT SYS WAS SEVEREAL GALLONS LOW. PRESSURE TESTED AND VERIFIED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD GASKETS WERE LEAKING. ALSO NOTED THAT THE TRUCK WOULD INTERMITTENTLY NOT START. VERIFIED THAT IT NEEDED A STARTER. ALSO NOTED THAT AT RANDOM THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. WE DID INSPECT IT AND NOTED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BURNT AND 2.5 QTS LOW. WE SUSPECT THAT THE TRANSMISSION MAY HAVE SUSTAINED SOME INTERNAL DAMAGE FROM THE OVERHEAT CONCERN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION COOLER FAILED TO PERFORM . CUST. The estimate estimate_web.pdf (1.4 MB). RECENT PHOTOS IN STORAGE FACILITY / DEALERSHIP / MINOR IMPERFECTIONS These photos are from May 4th and 9th, 2011 at the storage facility and dealership. They show the Gaylord lid and close ups of some of the scratches, dings and minor rust here and there. The stand out items are: rearview mirror passengers side is missing the mirror and has a dent drivers side rearview mirror needs to be adjusted manually, the controller in the door doesn't work The trim and molding is loose in some places TO THE WINNER Winner is responsible picking up the car or shipping it. It's amazing driving a muscle car that didn't have to pass smog inspections in California. This car is very rare and might not ever pop up on eBay again. Especially one that's been authenticated with the dealer invoice and inspected at a dealership. Good luck bidding!!!
