Vehicle Detail
For sale a 1971 402 4 speed monte carlo. The car was built in Canada.I got a build sheet and all the info from Canada GM.The original may still be in the seat I did not look for it.Lucky Canada kept there info. The car sold new from Ed Stinn Cheverolet in Ohio. The original color is # 53 placer gold. All the original matching parts seem to be on the car.For 40 years old the car is in good condition but is going to need a full restoration.I put the car in storage about 5 years ago hoping to some day have time to restore it.That day has never come and I have to many to do list.So I'm selling the most rarest monte carlo that I know of.I spoke with the gentleman in Canada and ask him how rare was the combo 402/4speed? His responce was ,out of Canada no more than 20 and possible single digits .He could not speek for the U.S. totals, but I'm sure the are low too. When the car was put in storage it was running however after pulling it out I could not get it to start.I'm not sure what it is but the motor turns over. All the paper work that I have comes with the car including a pair of 1971 license plates VA.The reserve is set at far less than what I paid for it.So please don't bid on the car unless you want to buy it.Feel free to ask any questions you might have.Thank and good luck!On Jun-15-11 at 17:35:05 PDT, seller added the following information: After so much interest in this car, I went back to make sure all numbers matched. The transmission was replaced in 1978 when the car was seven years old, so the transmission is NOT the original one. The engine block DOES match the VIN #. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have bid on this car and wish to cancel your bid, please do so immediately so that I don't have to cancel this listing. When I purchased this car many years back, I was told that all numbers matched. The replacement transmission is a Borg Warner ST 10 4 speed aluminum. In the process of all of this, I inspected the floor plan and it is SOLID. I spoke with a gentleman in Canada today who said that this car does not have a build sheet but a white tag that it comes with. Looked in glove compartment and part of this particular tag is in there. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions. Thanks so much for your interest in this car. Happy Bidding!! On Jun-16-11 at 14:34:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok guys something else was brought to my attention.I beleive the gentleman from GM Canada info made a typo error. When typing in the engine number he stated the # T0309CPA.That is not my engine block code!Part of the letter was hand typed and he put the wrong code in.I'm sure you can request an edited copy.So here are the numbers on my car that you see in this add. Engine block T0309CLA! ,tag on windsheild 1385711530851,tag under hood 71 13817 OS610584 710 5353 3c So for what I have been told these are the right correct numbers.I stand behind this car being the real deal with the papers to prove it.I'm not out to trick anybody into purchasing this car under false pretences. If you are a collecter and want this car bid with confidence that it is exactly what the details say it is.If one buys the car and finds the discription to be inaccurate I'll be happy to give your money back. thanks again Tommy
