Vehicle Detail

Where to start? This is a fine example of a 1973 BMW 2002 that has been converted to a track/race ready street car. It looks stock from the outside but is full of modifications. I am listing this car for my father who is selling due to recent divorce. History: Car was purchased in 2005 from West Michigan Motorsports in Holland, MI. At the time it has 60,XXX miles on the odometer. Records indicate this is a 3 owner car. Most of the original paperwork comes with the car. It is a matching numbers car. My father, a BMW CCA member, bought it in 2005 with the intention of turning it into a trackable street car that he could drive to Mid-Ohio for driving schools. The car has since seen a complete overhaul, with less than 2,000 miles on new motor. It's been garage kept, babied, and well cared for. Original Paint in fair condition with no body work. No fading, but has some chips, scratches, and a few dents. Upgrades: Bavarian Autosport urethane bushings Front K-max camber/caster plates Top End Performance big brake kit on front, new drums on rear Top End Performance front and rear strut tower braces with battery relocation kit in rear Motor removed and rebuilt by Hatic Tuning in Cincinnati bored .20 over bmw pistons new springs new valves head re-ported and polished 290 degree Schrick cam New Sachs clutch Lightweight flywheel MSD ignition, Top End Performance ultimate spark package Ireland engineering Tii Distributor Weber dual side draft carbs Top End Performance headers Tii Master brake cylinder Bilstein shocks Metric Mechanic 5-speed getrag gearbox, new driveshaft 4.11 limited slip rear end Roll bar, with removable cross-brace custom made by Zakira’s Garage in Cincinnati Simpson 5 pt harnesses 14” bottlecap wheels with Bridgestone Potenza tires Fuel pump (electric) in trunk, fuel cell in trunk New braided brake lines BMW racing steering wheel Racing seats with custom mounts New carpetRe-upholsered rear seat, door panels New heater blower Everything has been replaced or repaired New exhaust All gauges work, all electronics work The car runs flawlessly. The motor has just recently made it thru the "break-in" period and runs strong. It has not been dynoed but a conservative estimate would place this car in the 160-170 hp range. It's ready for the track or for CCA racing. It also handles beautifully on the street and can be used as a daily driver. The upgrades are not radical enough to prevent it from being driven effortlessly on the street. It is not a show car, rather meant to be driven. There is some light rust on the front splitter under the bumper. The front and rear chrome bumpers have some light surface rust. There are scratches and dings in the paint. There is a 1.5" crack in the dash. Chrome trim moldings have dents and dings. Car has original headlights, starter, alternator. No power steering, no power brakes, no radio, no a/c. My father has a few extras for sale that he will offer as first right of refusal to the winning bidder. 1. Original seats, re-upholstered in black vinyl and in perfect condition. The racing seats and brackets can be un-bolted and original seats bolt right in. 2. Set of (4) 14" track wheels with (5) new Kumho track tires. Tires used for 1 driving school, perfect condition. 3. Original "bus style" steering wheel. Bolts on. The car is a great buy for anyone looking for a turn key trackable street car. There is well over $20,000 invested. It's basically new. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. If you feel the need to call that can be arranged as well. Thanks for looking! On Jun-14-11 at 05:52:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional notes: -Carbs are Weber 45 -Car has 1" lowering springs -Gearbox has short throw -Over $7k invested in gearbox, driveshaft, and rear end alone
