Vehicle Detail

Welcome to the Classic Car Center! To assure the winning bidder that the vehicle is all that they expected, we provide a satisfaction guaranty to the buyer: if on personal inspection you decide that you do not want the vehicle for any reason, you don’t have to buy it! Please see the material in blue print at the end of this description for the full details of our Buyer Satisfaction policy. Now to the details on this popular British sports car. 1970 TR-6—Frame-off Restoration!! Finding a Triumph in this condition is almost impossible unless you buy a nationally-ranked show car—at more than twice the price. This TR-6 was the subject of a frame-off restoration in 2006 and has been used sparingly on nice days only. This car is a consistent show winner (see photos), even at British car-only events. With Excellent Cosmetics While off the frame, this car was treated to a very nice respray in Triumph’s Signal Red (not its original color), and the paint is deep and clear without any orange peel and with only a few imperfections. The red exterior is complemented by a tan leather interior that is perfect. The tan top is also new, offering the same weather protection that the car had when it left the factory. Powered by a Pre-emissions Engine It is well-known among Triumph aficionados that the 1970 engine developed significantly more power than the later TR-6s that were subject to federal emission standards. This car is as peppy as they come, and it accelerates smoothly from start up to higher RPMs. The engine was rebuilt at the time of the restoration. With Factory Overdrive!! The TR-6s that have the electric factory overdrive are much more in demand (and much more drivable) than the standard 4-speed, particularly in this era of high-speed interstate driving. The transmission in this TR-6 shifts smoothly both up and down through the gears providing all of the driving fun associated with a properly operating manual transmission. Totally redone During the course of its professional, frame-off restoration, the following list of the work that was done was provided to us by the previous owner: · New paint in factory correct color · New floor and rocker panels · New fenders and quarters · New OEM doors—no fillers or patches · Overhauled engine · Overhauled transmission · Overhauled rear end · New Dayton 62 spoke chrome wire wheels with new Michelin tires · Single piece cowhide sewn leather interior · New tan top and boot cover · New OEM type carpets · Frame sandblasted and oxide primed before finishing · All suspension parts cleaned and refinished · All brake parts overhauled and/or replaced · All brake lines replaced · All of the gauges work but the speedometer reads fast · All new OEM type water hoses and clamps · Newly recorded radiator and heater core · Overhauled steering rack · All suspension bushings replaced · The original black top with reflective stripes and black tonneau are included as extras Clean, Clean, Clean It is not an overstatement to say that this Triumph is clean as a whistle. And, it is ready for the road with gauges that work, safety equipment (wipers, horn, lights, turn signals, etc.) that function properly. Looking at the car with a super-critical eye, all that we can find that should be tended to is some weeping around the fuel sending unit. While overall the paint and chrome are excellent, there are a few chips in the paint and minor areas of pitting in some of the chrome. Driving a classic Triumph doesn’t get any better than this!! This is the type of quality TR-6 that only comes along rarely: fully restored, strong mechanicals—including overdrive, spotless interior, a great color combination AND priced right. Stop in and see this one—you won’t be disappointed.
