Up for bid is this 1968 Impala SS 396 Convertible.I had purchased this car in 1994 from Elkins WV,I am the 3rd owner.Looking past the"Smokie Mountain"metal flake paint job,here's what it is.This is a matching number SS 396 car which is highly optioned.The correct color is Tripoi Turqouise.The car was built in Oct 1967{pre strike} and has the 325 HP 396 Engine,M-40 Automatic Trans,323 12 Bolt Rear Axle,F-40 Front Suspension,Disc Brakes,Comfortron A/C,Tilt Wheel,Cruise Control,4 Way Power Bucket Seat,Tach and Gauges,Power Windows,Power Locks,Trunk Release,SS Pkg,AM/FM/ 8 Track Mutiplex Stereo,Vigi-Lights,Cornering Lights,Speedminder.The interior is the original including the carpets and has some wear.The convertible top is also the original and so is the well.The hydraulics work fine.The mileage is true,the engine and drivetrain is very strong with no oil leaks.The rear quarters had been repaired over the wheel as well as the lower front fenders before I had purchased it.The trunk,floors and underbody,floors,bracing,etc are very good with no rust issues.The car has been undercoated.The paint,well,it is what it is,{unless you dig metalflake}I bought it this way.I am presently replacing the complete exhaust system with the correct parts as well as reconditioning the brake system.The tires are GoodYear PolySteel Radial Whites which are long discontinued{tells you how long I've owned this car}I would like to see it go to a good home,This an honest complete 68 SS 396 car,It has been in long term storage.It needs paint and general tlc,but a great car.The 1968 Impala has always been one of my favorites.On Jun-10-11 at 07:10:16 PDT, seller added the following information: The car also has a factory Remote Mirror.The rally wheels are the correct 15x6.I also have available many extra parts as well as some NOS items.I also a 68 Impala Custom Coupe parts car.327 250 HP,PG,Factory Air car.Has typical NJ 68 rust,but good pickins.
