DESCRIPTION:
Our 2001 VW Passat GLX 4-Motion Wagon looks, runs and drives very nice! The ride is quiet and solid with no noises, vibrations, squeaks, or rattles. Acceleration is brisk and the seats are firm and very supportive, yet comfortable. The climate control system works perfectly with ice cold A/C. The seats, carpet, dash, headliner, door panels, etc. all look very nice and all electronic features work as they should. The VW AM/FM/Cassette/CD Changer 8-speaker audio systems sounds awesome! There are only a few minor interior blemishes and they are: the rear view mirror is slightly delaminating, the cupholder won't open, the black coating is chipping off on some of the black plastic materials, the rear seat's center seat belt is hard to retract, there are light white spots on the rear seat headrest, and there are scratches on the plastic trim in the cargo area. That's about it for interior blemishes. They are mostly all minor and mostly overlooked itemS that people won't even notice. The interior on this Passat is nice!
Outside, the bright silver paint looks great all over with the usual chips and scratches on the front and rear bumpers. The front bumper looks nice with only a couple tiny chips while the rear bumper does have some noticeable chips and scratches. Most of the body panels are blemish free, but the hood and left fender's leading edges have a few tiny chips, as does the right side doors. There is a missing trim piece on the left side of the car at the bottom in front of the rear wheel. There is a loose trim piece on the same side of the car at the bottom just behind the front wheel. The wheels have some minor brake dust etching, but still look great. The tires are in great shape all around and this car looks real nice outside!
Electronically, everything works properly on this car, but there are a few mechanical issues to disclose. The VA State Inspection sticker expires this month and the car will not pass a new inspection due to rear brake pads and rotors that are below spec and also due to the windshield, which has two star cracks in the center. One of the cracks is about 2" in diameter while the other is about 1/2" in diameter. We can replace the windshield and do the brake work to get the car to pass VA State Inspection, but that will be an additional cost over and above your winning bid amount. Other than those inspection items this Passat has the following mechanical issues: The valve covers are leaking oil, the cam adjusters are leaking oil, the left rear axle seal is leaking fluid, and the transmission output shaft is leaking. That's it for mechanical problems. You can smell oil burning while driving the car so we recommend you get the repairs done sooner than later, but it is not a safety issue. A competent mechanic can fix all these leaks or your local independent shop can do it. Provided you can buy this NO RESERVE Passat for a good enough price, it will still be a great deal even if you have to pay a dealer to do the work. As I said several times before, this car runs and drives great, looks great and everything works great so don't let the minor leaks stop you from bidding.
