1999 BMW: R-SERIES 1999 BMW R1100R Motorcycle, ABS One owner, low miles Location: Sandwich, IL Condition: Used VIN: WB10407B8XZB81477 Mileage: 13,697 Warranty: No Existing Warranty Title: Clear title For Sale by: Private Seller Features: Engine (cc): 1100 Type: Roadster Color: Blue Brakes: ABS One owner Boxer twin, with all manuals and service records. 12K inspection performed. New Z-6 Metzler tires front and rear mounted in 2006, at 8100 miles. ABS brakes. Windscreen. Both center and side stands. The following items are included: a pair of system hard cases; battery tender; dust cover. Garage kept. Never been down or in an accident. The electroplating on the handlebar tips has been peeling off. Based on a recommendation I received at the 12K inspection, we taped them rather than replaced them. This is a beautiful machine with superior road handling characteristics. Buyer responsible for picking up item or shipping at buyer's expense. On Jun-08-11 at 20:43:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional features: Adjustable seat height; OEM tool kit (see pix). I replaced the battery a few years ago. Riding style: I have ridden this bike regularly (every year), so it has not sat unused for long periods. Service: all service has been performed by certified BMW techs. On Jun-10-11 at 20:26:20 PDT, seller added the following information: A little more history on this bike: I purchased it on June 30, 1999 from Laurel BMW in Westmont, IL. The 6000 mile inspection was performed at Laurel on October, 2001, though I only had gone 4017 miles at the time (the warranty was due to expire in June 2002). My next major service was performed at Tag Sport BMW, Geneva, IL, by John Rambow (a well known BMW service tech in this area) in June 2006. Laurel had ceased selling motorcycles at that point, and their service staff had moved over to Tag. It was at this point, at 8100 miles, that I mounted the Z-6 Metzler tires. That greatly improved handling, and I have made it a point since then to regularly check tire pressures, keeping the pressure on the high side. This goes a long way to extend the life of the tires and improve handling. The 12,000 mile inspection, a major one, was performed in June 2009 at Rose Farm Classics, in Woodstock, IL, the nearest certified BMW motorcycle service remaining in the area. (In the meantime, Tag had also ceased servicing BMWs.) At that time, all filters, spark plugs, seals, gaskets, fluids, and brake pads were replaced. I have put about 700 miles on the bike since the 12K inspection. I keep it on the battery tender whenever I expect it to sit for extended periods. I have tagged it, insured it, and operated it this spring, and it is in excellent condition. I can't say enough about the ABS brakes. They are a great safety feature.
