Vehicle Detail
We have for your viewing and bidding pleasure a vintage collector car. The automobile is a 1970 FORD TORINO GT FASTBACK 2 door hardtop. We believe this is what is termed a “survivor” car. It is in its original “found” condition with the exception of a new rear drivers side quarter panel. With the vehicle is the new matching rear panel for the passenger side. The rear pan underneath the rear bumper has been removed for installation of the quarter panel. This pan goes with the car. Also the emblems for the replaced panel are with the vehicle. It was stated when we obtained the Torino that the 302 c.i. Motor is the original. It runs fairly good at idle but when driving down the road and you push the gas pedal down to accelerate it misses. We believe it needs new spark plugs. The engine starts right away and does not smoke. The former owner had some carburetor work done at the local Ford garage. The carb is a 2 barrel. The transmission is automatic and works good. The car goes down the road good but the brakes need work. They work when you pump the pedal then the brake light indicator comes on. We believe that the brake lines need bleeding. The vehicle has power steering. The wheels are factory 14” x 7” with the original hubcaps and beauty rings. The tires are good. We believe them to be to small for the wide rims. The rear end is good and does not clunk or howl. The paint is faded factory original with the exception of the replaced quarter panel which has been sprayed. The weld seam has not been finished off on replaced quarter panel. On the drivers side door there is a small creased dent above the trim strip on the center door area. The grill and front GT emblem are good. The front bumper is in really great condition and the back bumper is good. The back bumper has the original faded out dealership decal TROST FORD SALES AND SERVICE APPLETON, MINNESOTA. Rear tail light lenses and all other lenses are good and are not broken or cracked. Windshield, all side glass and rear deck glass is good. It has been tinted with the exception of the windshield. The dash light works but the factory radio does not. The antenna has broken off. The former owner stated that it had a new heater core and the heater fan works. Tail lights, park lights and blinkers all work but the headlights do not come on. Interior roof lamp works but is missing the housing with the lens cover. Dashpad needs replacing as does the front seat covers. The back seatcovers are good but are soiled. The side back panels, front door panels and arm rests are all good but soiled. Headliner has been taken out. The inside front visors are there and are good but again they are soiled. Carpet is worn and has 2 holes. They are by the drivers foot area where you enter the vehicle where you enter the step plate. Emergency brake pedal, gas pedal and brake pedal are good. Front windows roll up and down with ease but the rear ones are stiff and need a little help when rolling back up. All handles are original. Interior has all the seatbelts front and rear. All exterior chrome is in original nice condition around the front & rear windows, edging on the side windows and rear hood trim area. There is just a little 3/8” dent on the passenger fender end trim strip and some denting on the roof edge trim above the drivers side rear window. Kick panel trim is good with Ford script oval logo. Inside remote lever on the drivers side is missing for the adjustment of the side mirror. All mirror glass is good including the inside windshield rear view mirror. Steering wheel is good with the center logo going with car. Body is rusted through on the bottom of the front fenders behind the wheel area. Also on the passenger rear in front of, on top of and behind wheel area it is rusted. Passenger side has the original chrome strip underneath the door area and around the wheel well area but they are missing on the drivers side. We are of the opinion that whoever replaced the quarter panel did not send them with the car when it changed ownership before we obtained it. Also the trunk floor was taken out and needs to be replaced upon restoration of the vehicle. The automobile has the original jack with the label remaining on the inside of trunk lid. Speedometer works fine. The odometer shows 11,665 miles ( we believe it to have been rolled over and this is on the second time around ). Windshield wipers work great, the gas gauge works. There is a recent new muffler but no tail pipe. There is also 2 new rear wheel cylinder kits with the car. We have photoed these in the picture which shows the original keys, the center steering wheel logo emblem, the side trim panel vertical strips and the Torino and GT emblems. With the vehicle is a 2011 1968-1971 Torino Parts & Accessories Catalog. We have tried to describe to the best of our ability and have given an elaborate description for interested parties and bidders. We have honestly stated all information and what we know about the automobile. This is a really cool car. We love this car but have 10 others so I guess the GT will have to go!!!! We believe this 1970 Torino GT to be a rather uncommon and unusual find. The car lends itself nicely for an original restoration project. Buyer must pick up or arrange for transportation by a transport company. We are located conveniently in Northeastern South Dakota along I-29. We have the clear title to the vehicle. We are listing it at a LOW no reserve selling price. So, thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Bid and buy with confidence with our 100% feedback and almost 5,000 transactions.
