Up for sale is my 1998 BMW E39 540i 6-speed sedan in Arctic Silver exterior w/ Black M-Sport Leather interior with very low 108,000 miles. For a 13 year old car, the condition of the car is excellent, extremely clean inside and out. The car is still practically new, drives like new, looks like new, smells like new and feels like new. It has very low miles, only 108,000 miles, barely has been broken in. The car is absolutely a pleasure to drive, silky smooth, endless creamy torque throughout the rev range, very quiet, with no noise or rattles whatsoever. Engine, transmission and driveline purrs nicely as it should, with no other extraneous noises or rattles. There are no leaks on this car, and all engine gaskets have been replaced with new OEM parts (valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, timing cover gaskets). I purchased this car in March of 2011 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The car is originally a California car, and was brought over to Michigan to be resold (the car spent only a few months in Michigan with no exposure to snow or salty roads). I purchased the car there in Michigan from reseller and drove it back to California. The car absolutely performed brilliantly during the road trip. Before the road trip back to CA, I did an oil and filter change, air filter change and both pollen filters changed. During the road trip, I consistently got 26 mpg tank after tank. I purchased the car for the time being while I was in search of an E39 M5, so to familiarize myself with the E39 chassis. I currently own E28 M5, E34 M5T and E60 M5, three generations of M5 and have been searching for my ideal E39 M5. During my search for the M5, I came across this 540i and couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy it. Now that I've owned and driven the E39 540i, its time for me to get on with my original plan of buying an E39 M5. Whoever ends up buying this 540i 6spd will have an absolute gem of a car. The car has current CA DMW registration and is paid for until March 2012, still has 11 months left on the tags. I also have the smog test certificate of the car, passed smog emissions test very easily!!! Exterior Condition: Overall exterior condition of the car is a 9.5 out of 10. The Artic Silver paint itself is in excellent condition and shines very well when detailed and waxed. The clear coat is totally intact and there is no wear on the clear coat or paint as you would normally see with cars this age. I looked over the car's exterior and found 2 very, very minor ding, that is it! One small ding in the trunk lid by the license plate and small dent on the driver side fender next to the side marker light.. If it wasn't for these two blemishes, I would rate the exterior condition as a 10. There is no rust whatsoever on the car. All the glass is in very good condition with no cracks. All the exterior rubber and plastic trims are in very good condition and do not have any discoloration. Interior Condition: Overall interior condition of the car is a 9.5 out of 10. I'm giving the interior a 9.5 because it is just simply sublime, no issues whatsoever, extremely clean and well cared for. This 540i has original M-Sport bucket seats with adjustable thigh support. If it wasn't for the normal wear and tear on the driver seat's left side bolster, I would rate the car's interior as a 10. There are no tears, stains or scratches on the leather or dashboard or door panels. Aside from the driver's seat, the rest of the seats (front passenger and backseat) look like they have never been used at all, totally pristine condition. The leather looks absolutely pristine. The driver's seat show some normal wear but the wear is just that, very minor.
