Vehicle Detail

Heres my 1971 VW Beetle Convertible, I restored a couple years ago, to look like a 1955 I saw on line. This is the last of the flat front windshield Beetles, so, it looks proper for a "retro" restoration. This is actually a Super Beetle. But, I took the car apart, and created proper bumper brackets to take the all chrome "50's" bumpers, which are brand new reproduction bumpers. The motor was re-built by the previous owner at the 100K mileage mark, so it has about 25K on the rebuild, and runs well. Its a little cold-natured, but once it warms up, it runs like a champ. Ive had the carburetor replaced with a new one, it was worse than before, so I had the original one rebuilt and re-installed, it now runs fine, and I trust it to drive through the IL country side on the weekends for several hours, and she has returned me home safely each time. Would I drive it across the country? NO, but thats mainly because I wouldn't trust any car from 1971 to drive 3000 miles! So, I suggest shipping, but if you are a VW person, that would be up to you to attempt a long trip with her. I mainly use it for weekend enjoyment, not as my main ride. The roof is in horrible condition, with the glass window separating from the vinyl, BUT, I'm including a brand new roof with installed plastic rear window and headliner that the buyer will have to get installed. I two-toned the car in Dove Grey and Black, with red black and ivory interior. Red seat belts are included, and a windshield washer bag system but will also have to be installed by the buyer. I may have time to install the washer, its wired in, I just have to install the washer fluid bag and connect the wires. I'm including over $2000 in receipts, but Ive got almost $8500 invested in just the restoration, plus what I paid for the car in the beginning, so add $3000 more. The wide white wall tires alone cost me over $1200. What you see is what you get. Look closely, its a real head turner. There is a couple VERY minor paint bubbles appearing on the panel BELOW the rear engine lid. I assume I messed up when sanding, primer and painting that panel. Its an easy paint fix, or even an easy panel total replacement with a new panel. Brand new lower control arms and alignment just done. If you have any questions, just ask, I'll answer to the best of my ability. On Jun-02-11 at 09:02:32 PDT, seller added the following information:Also, Ive received questions about rust and floor pan condition. The previous owner had welded in new front floor pans. When I took the car apart, I double checked for any rust, and welded in new panels that had any rust. When I say I took the car apart, I mean that literally, it was spread throughout my carport and inside my house for months. I didnt go to all that trouble, only to put it back together with rusted areas. All areas were properly repaired (welded new sheet steel) before I put it back together and painted it. And before the new carpet was installed I sealed the floorboards with waterproofing tar and tar paper, like what used to be done in auto factories. This is my 7th car restoration, in the last 12 years. I do it right, or I don't do it at all.
