Vehicle Detail
Hi all, up for sale is our beloved Westy, ` It's a 1989, with relatively low miles. Overall in good condition, no major rust and never been in any kind of major accident. The pop top canvas is about a year old, it has the hemp/cotton blend style from Go Westy. All interior camping functions are working, it has served us well on many extended camping trips. - 2 sets of rims/tires: 1) 14" stock steel with 4 hubcaps, 6 ply, about 25% tread, 2) 15" Audi 5000 5 spoke aluminum rims with studded Continental winter viking snow tires, 5 ply, about 40% tread - Sidewinder 2 side awning in good condition - drive away 3 sided screened in tent - air conditioner that fits in the side window, 120 volt - passenger rear shoulder seat belt upgrade from Go Westy - front nose bra - carpet dash mat-dash is in great shape - newer VW battery - power windows, mirrors, and locks - relay kit and brighter headlight bulbs installed - all rear windows limo tinted - Alpine CD player The mechanics and maintenance have always been kept up. I am a Volkswagen/Audi Master level mechanic, with over 13 years dealership experience. Here are some of the things I have done to the van: Both head gaskets have been replaced and were glued. VW factory coolant used. Things like the water pump, thermostat, belts, tune up, all replaced in the last few years and in good shape. Oil changes done frequently, usually with VW filter at dealer. Transmission oil replaced many years ago with Redline synthetic. The trans operation is flawless. The clutch is less than 2 years old. The front and rear brakes are also less than 2 years old, the front wheel bearings as well. The brake master cylinder is 3 years old. The engine control module and the distributor have been replaced. Radiator fan switch and resistor 2 years old. The power steering pump was replaced and flushed last year. The ignition switch and wiper switch were replaced last year. The A/C was working, although a little weak as is normal for these vans. I disconnected the belt so as to not rob power from the engine. Front and rear heat is excellent. The fuel tank, level sender, pump, and filter all about 3 years old, all fuel lines and breather lines cleaned and replaced as needed. I have always upkept the overall TLC of the van. There are minor body blemishes. You can see in the pictures some paint fading on the left front door and lower half of the tailgate. There is a small dent in that common area at the rear of the sliding door. There is also a scratch along the bottom of the sliding door. There is very little rust overall, and the panel seams are good, undercarriage is good. The interior is in decent shape, no rips in seats or fabric, some stains on the carpeting. The dash and instruments are good. The windshield has 2 chips, no cracks. There is some heat warping in the front door panels. All the curtains are intact and in good condition, rear bug screen is there. The cabinetry is complete and in good condition, some small areas of paint chipping exist on the stove/fridge area. Some of the rubber trim pieces have shrunken. All propane and 12/120 volt functions work. The sink, water tanks, and water system are all working. The rear table is there, but I can't find the front table and leg right now, they come up for sale on ebay though. Upper and lower cushions are all there and in good shape. If anyone is interested, I also have a 1986 7 passenger Vanagon for parts. The engine was taken out and completely rebuilt by a local machine shop on my instructions come the day I ever needed a new one. These can be negotiated if desired. These are not included in the current auction. The van is currently located in Canada. A US bidder has 2 options. Pick up at the USA border in Washington State, or have an auto shipper bring it down to wherever you are located. I have used UShip many times with positive experiences. The van is currently registered in Canada and was previously registered in the USA. It was a USA production vehicle, so it meets all the emissions regulations there. Transfer and registration in either country is not difficult. You would receive the original registration in the mail from me, and then would be able to obtain a new title and registration in your state. Please note the buyer is responsible for all shipping, import/export, duty, registration, etc., fess that apply (if any). A $1000 Paypal deposit is requested within 3 days of the winning bid. The remainder of the balance is due before shipment or pick up. Thanks for looking and good luck!
