Vehicle Detail
1987 BMWE30 325iC 28,500 Miles DOCUMENTED! You are bidding on my 1987 BMW 325iC convertible - E30. It has 28,500 original miles! The car is black with Sand interior and top. I believe the top to be original and therefore have never replaced it. The top is in fair condition but has a clear rear window. I keep the car in the garage with the top down and I put it up for the first time in years to take pictures. The car was repainted several years ago by Scott Windfield's The Paint Shop. Scott has had a few cars featured on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine in the past. The paint is outstanding! It was color sanded and buffed. You can literally read a newspaper in the paint - note the reflection clarity in the picture of the hood when it was up. The original leather sport seat equipped interior is in very good condition. There is a split forming on the rear seat back but it has not come apart. I have the books, tools and records for the car. It has been serviced by Crown BMW in Greensboro, NC and Motorsport Connections in Winston-Salem for most of its life. The oil has been changed every year with Castrol 20w-50. Red Line oil has been used in the gearbox and rear differential. There are no oil leaks although there is a slight oil smell when the car is used for extended periods - Motorsports Connections speculates that there is a seal on the front of the engine above the oil level that has dried out due to non-use. Their recommendation was to leave it alone as this car is rarely driven. Other than that, the car runs and drives great. The following were replaced when I had it painted: front and rear bumpers (OEM BMW), "chrome" window trim and weatherstripping (OEM BMW) and bumper bellows. A Hammon front spoiler with fog lights and a Hammon rear valence were added. The following mild upgrades have been installed: Conforti chip, K&N cone filter, ANSA Sport muffler with custom chrome tips, H&R Springs with Bilstein shocks, Ronal 15" X 7.5" basket weave wheels, Michelin MXV 205/55-15 tires, E30 M3 differential (4.11 gearing), 3 gauge pod including oil temp, oil pressure and volts gauges. This car has never suffered any accident (or any other) damage, the original BMW VIN stickers are intact and present on the hood, front fenders, doors and trunk lid. The car is in great condition - I challenge you to find another 1987 325iC in better condition. Several years ago, I signed up for Carfax with unlimited access when I was considering another vehicle. With this service, I was granted unlimited vehicle checks and I ran a Carfax on this car. It showed a discrepancy with the mileage - I tracked this problem down to the kid at the Shell station who filled out the annual North Carolina Vehicle Inspection. He incorrectly input 5X,XXX miles as showing on the odometer when actually only 2X,XXX (twenty something thousand miles) were on the car. I called the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles to complain and get the inspection corrected. The NCDMV informed me that they couldn't correct the error but that they could give me some sort of certificate of complaint. I can assure you that there are 28,500 original miles on this car and I can document that fact!! You are responsible for shipping - the car can be picked up in Winston-Salem, NC. I am willing to help you arrange shipping, however. If you have fewer than 5 feedbacks, please contact me prior to bidding. If you have fewer than 5 feedbacks and bid, I reserve the right to cancel your bid. I will answer any and all questions to the best of my ability. I am not a dealer, this is my personal car. I can provide many more pictures via e-mail. I am happy to take this car to any authorized BMW dealer within a reasonable distance for a pre-purchase inspection. I am reluctantly offering this car for sale as I am working on a deal to buy a friend's 1969 Mercedes Benz 280SL that he and his father have owned since new and I need to raise some funds. In that regard, you may be asking yourself the same question that I'm asking myself: where in the world will I ever find another 28,000 mile 1987 325ic in this condition again? The Car will be available for viewing Saturday May 28th in Winston-Salem. It will be in the BMW Car Club of America's show: The Vintage at Old Salem. On May-25-11 at 07:49:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I'm adding some more information subsequent to a question about the AutoCheck information that appears as part of my listing. AutoCheck reports that the mileage is "OK" but they report 123,000 miles in 2001. I don't know where they got this information but I suspect it is the result of a keypunch error by whomever performed the NC Annual Emissions Control and Safety Inspection. I have documentation (work orders and receipts) that validate the mileage of this car. (and really, would owner of this car have been driven 19,000 from 1987 to 1999 and then driven over a 100,000 more miles in it in a year or so? - doesn't make sense). Another item that I noticed on the AutoCheck is a title correction - I titled the car in my company's name, I later changed the name of the company and changed the name on the title. That's what the title correction is about. On May-25-11 at 07:52:21 PDT, seller added the following information: One other thing: The top is Pear Beige Canvas
