Vehicle Detail
This is a rare find. A one owner, garage kept, unmolested 1985 Land Cruiser FJ60. This truck was purchased in Phoenix and never left. Some of you may follow my auctions and may know my story. To those of you who don't know, I am a physical therapist in the Tucson area. Because I deal with a lot of retired folks I am able to come across some very nice original vehicles many of which are original owner vehicles. Through a series of events I was able to locate and purchase this Land Cruiser from a retired gentleman in Phoenix. He bought it new and took very good care of the Cruiser with all scheduled maintenance being done on time. Even though it was garaged kept the paint job does have signs of spending 26 years in the blistering Phoenix sun with some clear coat burning on the hood and top only. Other than that, it is in beautiful shape with no dents and absolutely no rust anywhere on this rig. The interior is exceptionally clean. This Cruiser was used as a family taxi locally in Phoenix and once the kids were raised it really wasn't driven much. The seats were always covered as was the cargo area so it is very clean and in great condition. The only modification on the Land Cruiser is an aftermarket stereo that was installed with no cutting of the dash. This Cruiser was originally ordered with just the AM/FM stereo and the kids wanted a cassette player which was the "in" thing to do in the 80's and so the owner had a very nice Kenwood deck installed to replace the original radio. The speakers are the original speakers and no modifications were made for speakers. As anyone who follows these Land Cruisers knows, 127k miles is literally just breaking in for these legendary vehicles. These are known to easily go 250k miles or more if well maintained, so this one has tons of life left. I will break down the vehicle in more detail below: INTERIOR: All original interior with the exception of the radio as mentioned above. AC is very cold and all components are working as they should. Carpet is clean and in great shape. All seats and door panels are in excellent shape. The driver's seat has the standard Land Cruiser tear on the driver's seat there by the lever to recline the seat. I've never seen one without this tear unless it was repaired by a shop. There is one small tear in the front vinyl portion of the rear seat just above the carpet. It is difficult to see and is about one inch long. The passengers seat has pulled apart on the bottom a bit in the part you sit on but could be resown from a shop as the material is still in great shape. No other tears or stains in the upholstery, carpet or door panels. Dash is perfect and had a cover on it it's whole life. I still have the cover and it will go with the LC. Headliner is in good shape. There is a hole in the plastic dome light cover as the owner said he put in a larger bulb then he should have and so it melted the light cover. You can get that cover cheap and easily from LC parts suppliers. All doors lock and windows roll up as they should. All weatherstripping is soft and the Cruiser rides very quiet inside. It has the heater for the rear passengers under the passenger's front seat that works well. All gauges work perfectly and dash lights work as they should. Original owner's manual is in the glove box with a variety of different dealer handouts from 1985. Also has the original jack and tools under the driver's seat (rare to have all these). The cargo area looks excellent with very little wear noticeable. All glass is clear and in very good condition. EXTERIOR: 100% original paint on this Cruiser. It is a beautiful silver/blue color with original Toyota graphics. The body is near perfect with a few very small dings that you really have to look for. No body work or paint work ever done on this beauty. The hood and top are showing some Arizona sunburn which may or may not buff out. The rest of the truck shines like new. The chrome on the bumpers and wheels looks like new. The chrome around the windows and bottom rocker panels look like new. Has both original Kotto headlights with washer squirters. Grill is perfect. All emblems are perfect. It does have the tow package in place but was never used for towing and the ball has been removed. All doors lock as they should including the rear hatch. Overall a beautiful rig, even with the clearcoat issues on the hood/top. Completely 100% rust-free throughout. MECHANICAL: The LC runs like you would expect of a LC with 127k miles on it. Runs very strong with no mechanical issues. It is cold blooded in the morning as is normal for this vintage Land Cruiser but the choke works perfectly so it starts without hesitation and idles perfectly. Runs strong through the gears and the transmission shifts very nicely. It drives very nicely and tracks straight and stops perfectly. Tires have about 40% tread left on them and are Michelins. All 4WD components work perfectly. There are no funny noises, shakes or shimmies with this Land Cruiser. No overheating issues even in the Arizona heat. Nearly all the vacuum lines have been replaced recently. Fresh oil change and air filter. Does not smoke at all but it will leave a drip or two on the driveway if left parked for an extended perior of time (2-3 days). There is a little seepage around the rear main seal area but I would not say this would be an immediate issue that would need to be addressed. I have seen these things dry up when the truck is used regularly and the seals soften up and seal better. This LC has been driven very little over the past few years (see the autocheck report). This Cruiser has been driven 7k miles in the last 7 years!! This thing is begging to become someone's daily driver and will be a trouble-free driver for many more years to come. Fly in and drive this home anywhere on the planet. SUMMARY: How often do you find a one-owner low mile Land Cruiser of this vintage and in this condition? The answer is hardly never. And if you do find one they cost an arm and a leg. I have priced this very reasonably and this is an investment that will only go up in value. These Land Cruisers have a following that seems to be growing each year. Parts are still plentiful for these rigs. They are incredible off-road vehicles and are world renowned for their ability to go just about anywhere without a ton of modifications. Check the pictures and my feedback and bid with confidence.
