1968 BMW R-Series

This is a completely untouched 1968 R-69S with matching numbers. Except for road trips, this bike never left Maryland. I am the third owner. The original owner used it for daily commuting and trips. The condition that this machine is in is a testament to the remarkable quality of this line. The second owner was a co-worker who aquired it after the first became ill. He registered it, put about 50 miles on, it then stored it indoors for until I got it in 2006. I never registered it and it has been indoors and covered since. I cleaned the carbs, replaced the floats and put a new battery (6 volt) in it several months back thinking that this would be the year to re-introduce it to the road. So much for plans. The receipts are available. It starts, runs and shifts through all of the gears, but could use a tune up and good going over before hitting the road. Known issues: The boot for the drive shaft is cracked. I think that I got a new one when I got the floats, but I need to find it. The air pump is attached, but does not work. The horn does not work. I have not spent any time looking into what is wrong. I do not have the keys for the fork or box on the tank Potential bidders keep in mind this bike is NOT being marketed as a pristine show bike. It is in the condition that is was when the first owner passed it to the second years ago. It is complete, original and operational. Beyond this is it sold AS IS - WHERE IS.
