Vehicle Detail
I am not the owner of this car, but have known of it since, 1991, and am helping the lady who owns it, and will do my best to answer any questions concerning the sale. With a good Colorado title, the 1941 Willys coupe, is a steel bodied car, choppped approx. 2 1/2", and leaving the rear windows stock, and with the exception of the rear fenders, and deck lid are fiberglass. The car is for sale as-is-where-is, and is located in Torrington Wyoming, 200 miles north of Denver Colo. The car is an ex-drag car turned street car. The coupe was purchased in Parker Colo. south east of Denver in 1991, where it had been since 1971 and was known there as "The Legend", prior to that it had been in southern Kansas north of Dallas Tx., and was proported to be the Grist Bros. chopped drag car, which has never been verified. The interior is bare with the exception of original dash, which has sheet metal covers over original openings in dash to accomadate newer guages, for drag racing., original chromed steering column w/steering wheel, has chromed brake and clutch pedal assy, original chassis, with drilled and chromed front axle, which has also had the spring pads trimmed back, and the axle drilled for cross leaf 32 Ford spring perches and buggy spring, with the engine set back 10% for Gasser Class. The chassis has had various engines and trans combinations, but Willys coupe, now has a 327 cu inch chevy, with camel back heads, lumpy cam, chrome valve covers, and owner modified headers, and a four barrel carb, HEI ignition, and no radiator in it at the present time, with 350 turbo auto trans, the rear end is 9" Ford, with low gear ratio, and posi, or spool. The firewall is aluminum, as is the floor, with battery and a weight box in the trunk, along with early VW gas tank. There are smoked plexiglass windows with the car,no garnish mouldings. The tires and wheels are nothing special, just rollers. The car has evidence of body filler, but the front clip, ei: the front fenders, hood, and grill center section were stripped of primer, to bare metal, filler removed, and metal work progressed through the stage of application of lead, and $6500.00 at the metal work, fabrication shop where it was being worked on, and now has a coating of black primer. The hood cowl vent has been filled, welded, and leaded. We could not find the headlite pods, door handles, or one rear tail lite, and no side trim, as when it came from Colo. the holes had been filled with body filler. The finish metal work, and body work still needs finished. Interior is as would be in the 60s, bare and minimal, as in no door panels, carpet, headliner etc. Worthy of being restored to drag race history, or a street car, wheather known history or not, is worth building. Do your homework, may be with race history, or at least from Kansas to Denver it is known, being white in color at the time in Denver. The owner is knowledgeable of automotive worth and she will not be giving this project away, and has a fair reserve, as cars such as this have been known to bring $100,000.00, with reserve also being fair, leaving room to build and restore to street or strip. The engine, trans, driveshaft, rearend are in workable condition, I have had the car running with open headers, and sounds good, trans is a rebuild, as previous owner had 4 speed in car, and was kept by previous owner in Colo. The purchase is as - is - where - is no warranty, exspressed or implied , payment to Pay Pal for $500.00 with-in 24 hrs of end of auction, with the balance in cash at the time of pick-up, which is up to the purchaser, with-in 7 days of auction ending. I will not deal for transportation, but will aid in loading. Thanks Jorg For any unanswered, except reserve price questionns call : 307-630-5940 '
