Vehicle Detail

I am re-listing this car one final time. I have too many cars and something has to go as I am out of storage space. So, I am listing this car at no reserve this time. That’s right, whatever it is bid to is what it sells for. So bid as though you are buying it because high bidder wins the opportunity to buy the car. 1965 Ford Custom 4-Door Sedan 240 Big-Six Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission 5P54V199470 5 – 1965 Model Year P – Twin Cities Assembly Plant 54 – Custom 4-Door Sedan V – 240-1V Six Cylinder 199470 – Consecutive Unit Number BODY 54E – Custom 4-Door Sedan COLOR F – Arcadian Blue TRIM 12 – Blue Cloth and Vinyl Trim DATE 24F – Scheduled Production Date June 24th, 1965 AXLE 1 – 3.00:1 Non-Locking Rear Axle TRANS 6 – C4 Dual Range Cruise-O-Matic Rare Survivor 1965 Custom. You may say “what’s rare about a 1965 Ford Custom” as there were many of them produced. What really makes this car rare this car survived this many years and is an un-restored “survivor." These cars are extremely hard to find in good clean survivor condition as most were driven hard and used up. Fortunately this car had a very loving owner for many years. This car is very solid and original. The odometer reads 28,900 although actual mileage is 128,900. Ford was all-new for 1965. New contemporary styling inside and out, new frame, new wider tread front and rear, new 15 inch wheels with low-profile tires and new suspension with big coil springs front and rear all wrapped up in a package that was proven to ride quieter than a new Rolls Royce. With a total production of over 800,000, there seemed to be full-sized Fords around every corner in ‘65. With a base price of $2,415, the 1965 Custom 4-Door Sedan proved to be very well accepted with 96,393 produced for the model year. This makes the Custom 4-Door the third most popular full sized Ford after the hot selling Galaxie 500 4- Door Sedan and Galaxie 500 2-Door hardtop. The new Custom series was the value leader in the Ford lineup for 1965. The low base price of $2,415 included all of the dramatic new styling and smooth, quiet ride found on all full-sized Fords for ’65. The standard engine was Ford’s all-new “Big Six” displacing 240 cubic inches and produced 150 horsepower and real economy. Top this all off with standard suspended accelerator pedal, curved side glass, padded instrument cluster, foam padded seat cushion upholstered in stylish nylon and vinyl trim, color keyed wall-to-wall carpeting, courtesy lighting, cigarette lighter, sun visors, arm rests and ash trays and you have a do-all family sedan for a very low price. This Custom is a perfect example of the standard Custom 4-Door Sedan with only one option, the $179 Cruise-O-Matic Drive Transmission. This car starts, runs and drives just as it should, smooth, solid and quiet. Everything works like it should with the only exception being the heater blower motor which does not run. This car drives really wonderful and is still very tight, it is solid and free of any rattles or noises, you won’t be disappointed in the way it drives one bit. The paint is about 7 years old and pretty good quality, similar to what the finish would have been in 1965. There are a few very tiny bubbles in the paint on the bottom rear corners of both rear doors. They are not holes, just very small bubbles. Overall this car is very solid everywhere you look. The interior is beautiful and original with the exception of the carpet which is brand new. The instrument panel pad is in perfect shape which is very rare for 65-66 Fords. In general, this is just a very nice, very solid survivor with 128,900 miles. It’s not perfect; after all its 45 years old with over 100,000 miles. There is a small chip in the windshield. Still, it drives great and is very sharp would attract a lot of attention at any cruise night or car show. While the car ran and drove good, it did leak oil and smoked, so this winter I pulled the motor and transmission and did a complete overhaul. The engine is now brand new. It was bored .030 over and the crank was turned .010.The head was gone through with hardened valve seats and all new guides installed. Everything was done right, perfectly stock just the way Ford made it. Now the car runs like a brand new Ford should. The transmission was professionally overhauled and even the u-joints are new. The exhaust is good and the car runs smooth and quiet. The tires are like new and I see no reason why this car couldn’t be driven anywhere with ease. I have listed this car before and have absolutely need to sell the car as I just have too many cars and not enough room so I am going to sell it at no reserve. The high bidder buys the car. I have a clear title and there are no title problems. Please check my past feedback, I have been an eBay member for many years, and all of my feedback is 100%. You are welcome to come inspect and drive the car during the auction, but when the auction is over the car is sold. I am a classic Ford enthusiast, not a dealer. The buyer is fully responsible for pickup and delivery. This car is being sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied. If you bid, be prepared to buy. This sale will be final and non-refundable. Buyer to pay non-refundable $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of auctions close.
