Those of you who follow my auctions know that I am a physical therapist that has a patient population that includes many elderly people who I enjoy working with and talking to. Most of my patients know that I'm into cars and that I enjoy older cars of all types that are extra clean and ideally one owner cars. Through a series of events I was able to come across this very nice Dodge Raider. It was a one owner car until I bought it about 6 months or so ago. I loved it so much that I decided I was just going to keep it for myself but now I have to sell it. If you have never driven or seen one of these you really ought to check it out. Many of my friends out here are into Suzuki Samurais and the Chevy Trackers and I have had Samurais and Trackers myself over the years. I had never really seen or driven one of these until I had the opportunity to check this one out. These things are much nicer than any Samurai or Tracker. They ride much more comfortably, have much more power and are much roomier than the other little SUVs. Also with the Trackers and Samurais especially, when you turn on the AC it drains so much power from the engine that they really fall on their face. This Raider has ice-cold AC and it does NOT drain the power from the engine. I can drive this 75-80 mph with no problem which you can't do that with either of the other two small SUVs. Read the reviews on these little things. The owners love them! I'm going to break down the Raider in more detail below: HISTORY: This Raider was bought new in the San Diego area and stayed there it's whole life. It is basically a one-owner rig since the second owner was me and I've only had it a few months. It was garaged for most of it's life but did spend the last several years out of the garage and under a carport. It was very well maintained and was actually over maintained according to the family. The owner would do maintenance when the car wasn't due or didn't need it. The seats, dash and stearing wheel were all covered since new. I removed the covers for the first time in it's life. It had rugs over the original carpet to preserve it so the thing looks brand new inside, even the driver's seat. It really is in amazing shape. The car was rarely driven over the years and was mainly driven in town and never off-road. It was never modified and is completely original and stock. EXTERIOR: The body on this Raider is very straight. There may be two very, very small door dings but nothing very noticeable at all. It is the original paint and the paint is overall in good shape but there are very fine scratches or lines in the paint on the sides. It's very difficult to get to show up on the pictures. It looks like the original owner may have driven through some very fine brush at one time and it left the paint that way. I have not tried to buff it out because it doesn't bother me, but I would think it should all buff out. The black paint around the windows is getting a little thin in some areas but there is still coverage throughout. The tan paint is not thin at all. To summarize the paint, it's not perfect but it is presentable and is in good condition for the age of the car. The wheels are in great shape but the plastic center caps show a little bit of pitting. There is one small area of rust through on the bottom of the driver's fender. When I bought the car it was not rusted through but it was bubbling a little. I took off the inner fender liner and found it completely packed with sand and leaves which allowed moisture to get trapped in the area and eventually rust developed. I cleaned the area so the problem is corrected but there will need to be a small patch panel placed there. It is a easy fix as you can see the body line will make a nice seam for the patch panel. I do have access to a complete left front fender that could be used for just the patch panel on the bottom if you are interested. The problem did not occur on the right front fender and I did pull off the right side inner fender just to check and it was very clean and dry. There are no other rust issues anywhere on the car. This was an isolated area due to the inner fender trapping debris. All the lights work perfectly and all lenses are very clear and new looking. Both bumpers are in perfect condition. Tires are very nice tires and are brand new. I do have the receipt and warranty info. for the tires. I also have a brand new, never opened NOS rear spare tire cover just like the one that is on it that goes with the Raider. INTERIOR: The interior is in mint condition. There really is no other way to say it. It looks brand new. From top to bottom it is perfect. Everything works as it should with no problems. All the glass is perfect and clear with the exception of one small "star" in the windshield which does not affect the driver's view. The original radio has been replaced with a very nice Kenwood CD player/radio while still using the factory speakers. It sounds very nice. It has tilt column, rear wiper/squirter, COLD AC, hot heater, intermittent wipers, manual windows and door locks, inside fuel door release, power rear hatch lock on the dash and a very unique driver's seat that has suspension in the seat that is adjustable. This unique seat make going over rough terrain very easy on the driver as the seat absorbs much of the shock. The passengers seat folds and tilts foreward to allow easy access for the rear passengers. Rear seat folds down and tumbles forward for more rear cargo space. All carpeting looks like new. All door panels and inside panels are in near perfect shape. Factory jack and tools are in place. Original owner's manual is in the glove box. Also comes with a factory dealer brochure in mint condition which is very cool to have with the truck. It has the very cool instrument cluster on the dash including the inclinometer that is fully operational. All gauges are bright and work perfectly. It does have the "maintenance" light on which is not the same as the "check engine" light. The owner's manual says that the maintenance light will come on automatically at certain mileage intervals to remind you to do maintenance. My new Toyota Tundra has the same system to remind you to change your oil etc. The difference is I know how to reset my Toyotas, but I can't figure out how to reset this one so it stays on. The check engine light is NOT on this rig nor have I ever seen it on. The interior is very quiet when driving. All the weatherstripping is still very soft and seals well so it is not creating a lot of wind noise. All windows roll up very easily and doors lock as they should. Comes with a complete set of brand new Team Realtree floor mats with two front, two rear and one large mat for the cargo area with a cargo net included. They are very rugged but look nice in the truck. MECHANICAL: The Raider needs nothing. It has brand new shocks all around and tires as mentioned above. Does not burn or leak any fluids at all. Does not smoke at all. Starts easily with no problems even in intense heat or in very cold weather. Does not overheat even in the Arizona desert. It has new plugs, and filters. The V6 engine just purrs along and has good power. The automatic transmission shifts on time and very smoothly. The shifter has a button on the side of it to allow you to downshift with the push of a button. It will also downshift if you push hard on the accelerator to pass. Drives very smooth and tracks straight. No funny noises or rattles. The 4WD components work perfectly. It does have power brakes with disc brakes in the front and power steering. All steering and suspension components are tight and have no problems. You can fly in and drive this home wherever you live. SUMMARY: This is a rare find. There are not many of these left and certainly not many in this condition. Search Ebay and other internet sites and you will find they are not easy to find and the value is going up on these the older they get. This model is the same as the Mitsubishi Montero but was imported for Dodge by Mitsubishi and rebadged as a "Raider" for Dodge. It was produced for only a few years. It will absolutely blow away the other small SUVs in it's class and yet the cost is very similar. I think you get WAY more truck for the money than you do if you were to get a Samurai/Tracker etc. I will be advertising this locally so I do reserve the right to end this auction at any time if it sells locally. Check my feedback and bid with confidence as all my buyers have been very satisfied with the cars I have sold. I know whoever buys this will also be very satisfied with a very clean, original and unique offroad worthy rig that will last many, many more years. There is a $500 deposit due via Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Thanks and goodluck!!
