Vehicle Detail

Just in time for summer and the price is right! Here is a 1994 SAAB turbo convertible with a 2.0 liter engine and 5 speed manual transmission. It gets around 25-26 mpg on the highway with the taller tires (195/65/15) yielding a bit taller high gear. It does not have 4 wheel drive, obviously, but I cannot figure out how to change that entry. The old girl has some issues but runs well and is my daily driver. All of the power elements such as the windows, locks, power roof, radio, A/C, rear defrost, and power seats work, as do the interior and exterior lights except for one of the (HID) fog lamps and perhaps the rear backup lights on some occasions. There's a little rust at the lower trunk, rear bumper, wheelwells, and undercarriage but nothing really serious I don't think. The interior is in OK condition but many of the plastic pieces of the floor console are not standard and it has neoprene seat covers on the front (Wet Okole made in Hawaii). The rear seats are leather and in good shape (no, the child seats are not included but they are very difficult to install and remove and I hurt my shoulder recently...). The paint is in pretty good shape as shown but has some dings and scratches. The tires are about a year old and have plenty of tread left. The turbo works well and it has a red (upgraded) computer box and a K+N style intake system. It has a trailer hitch with a 2-inch adapter so you can carry bikes, etc. with a hitch rack. It has a custom roll-bar installed by me to assuage the fears of my (now ex) wife about transporting the kids in a convertible. Ironically that is the main reason I'm selling - the kids are getting bigger and it's increasingly difficult to get them in and out with the roll bar, in fact that's how I hurt my shoulder. The top is new stayfast canvas but needs a little adjustment. The feature strip was not included with the top (the piece below the rear window) and I wish it had been since it leaks a little below the window and somehow into the trunk, haven't figured out exactly where. You can buy a stayfast feature strip separately from thesaabsite.com for $39 and I recommend doing so if you don't want to wipe out the package tray and trunk after each rain. Also, just recently it has begun to pop out of first gear every once in a while. I think it is the shifter linkage and not the syncro but I'm not positive. You can always just hold it in until shifting to second, no worries. Otherwise the transmission works fine. The engine runs good but there is an oil seep from the main seal, I'd guess between 1/4 and 1/3 quart per month. About the headlights...for some reason one or the other headlight bulb would blow about every month or so, and I was pulled over twice because of this. I replaced the sockets but no improvement. I couldn't find a used pair of headlight assemblies and they are pretty expensive (+/-175 each) so I hot-glued some sealed beam headlights into a portion of the old housing and rigged an aiming mechanism from nuts and bolts. It was supposed to be temporary, but now it's been several months and the lighting is actually considerably better than the original setup. And no blow-outs. It has a Kenwood face-off radio with 4 speakers, included with sale, and a Sirius antenna mounted on the trunk (no Sirius radio included, however). And most important of all, the two drink holders mounted on the glove box door ARE included! I'm sure there is something I'm forgetting but just let me know if you have any questions and I will promptly respond. As noted mileage will change as it is my daily commuter. No reserve, no BIN, Happy Bidding! On May-13-11 at 19:04:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a lot of questions about the roll-bar. It is removable, bolted to the floor and behind the back seat. If the winning bidder wishes, I can remove it once the deposit is received. Give me about a day to do this. Also, the front left brake rotor is grooved a bit due to an installation error. It has started to shake a little under braking but is still completely drivable. The rotors were replaced about a year ago so the other ones are fine. Thanks, cob
