Vehicle Detail

BMW K75 RT, Rally - Sport Touring This 1992, K75RT is a fantastic bike in very good condition. I purchased this bike back in August 2004, It had 37,173 miles, here on eBay; I flew up to Reno, NV and rode it home. From what I can remember, the guy I bought from, got it from the original buyer, apparently they were friends, can’t remember how long he had it; so that would make me the third owner. He told me it was in excellent condition, well pretty good would be more like it. The rear rotor was bad from no pads left, the drive shaft was seized, the clutch was bad and it had some fine mist of yellow paint over spray all over it; most of the bike had been polished up but there was still yellow speckles here and there. I have gotten most of them out but I’m sure there are still spots someplace, nobody has noticed. Right off I replaced the rear rotor, drive shaft and clutch, seems like something else but cant’ think of it. I have ridden this bike to Mexico many times, Canada and all over the Western US. The bike had always seemed ok, I’d never owned one before and never thought of them as fast, but certainly smooth. I’ve done many 750+ mile days and three Iron Butt, Saddle Sore 1000 and Bun Burner 1500 mile rides. In November 2008 after a long ride to California and on the way back, outside of Baker, Ca, it started running rough and coughing. Thought it was a tune up maybe? Tune up it was not. Found out I had no compression in number 3, very little in 2 and , burned valve. Since I had another bike to ride I didn’t feel like fixing it. I hadn’t miss treated it, I think back to the other things that were wrong when I got it, I think there is a correlation. I sold the other bike in mid 2010 and figured I’d fix this one up, I always liked it. The fairing keeps the cold and heat away from your body. So here’s how it is today: I took her apart and had a valve job done. The OEM valves are something like $375.00 each (nuts isn’t it!). The shop I used is very well respected in Las Vegas and the main guy is great, builds dragsters. He found a Volkswagen Jetta valve that is the same, other than being 1mm larger in diameter. I feel the difference in the seat of the pants. I had the valve clearance check after a few hundred miles, they are right one. The bike really gets up and scoots now. Much more power and response. Great fuel mileage, 50+ MPG under 75/80MPH. Over 80MPH drops to about 38 to 42 MPG depending on speed and conditions. I have only had her up to 110/115 MPH so far but there is a bit more room in the throttle travel. Two weeks ago, I was pulling 110 on the long, steep, grade coming out of Lughlin, NV, still had and unused power. Also replaced : Valve Cover Gasket. Crank Case Gasket. Injector seals. Throttle cable. Clutch cable. Fork Seals. Front Master Cylinder rebuild. Replaced the battery, $120.00. Timing chain looks good. And more that I can’t think of but if it’s done or replaced with a valve job, I did it. LaserTech tires front and rear, lots of tread left on both. Extras: Safety and Visibility · Piaa, Super Plasma, anti-vibration headlight bulb, aprox. $50.00 · Aeroflow Head light Cover, protects head light from damage, $55.00 · Flashing Head Light adaptor. This flashes during the day time when you have the Hi-Beam on. Again makes you more visible. Value aprox. $65.00 · Piaa 1100X Driving Lights. I can’t imagine riding without them. I have them on day and night. Day makes you more visible and night just lights up the road. Value aprox. $380.00. · Hyper-Lite on the rear, Flashing Brake/Running lights. These are BRIGHT… $85.00 · Reflective 3M Scotchlite on back of saddle bags; black in the day light, brilliant white at night when a headlight shines on it, aprox. $49.00. Comfort: · Corbin, Dual Touring Saddle, Aprox. $439.00. · Throttalmeister Speed Control, $142.00. · Heated Grips, after market from Riderwear House, value aprox. $25.00. · Bar Backs, aprx. $120.00. · Topeak, PanOram, 17 function Computer. See it under the dash shelf on left side. I installed this for backup and verification of time, speed, distance when doing Iron Butt rides. Value aprox. $45.00. · LED Battery Gauge. See it on the right hand fairing panel. Aprox. $42.00. · Two BMW Power Outlets, run your heated jacket or liner. · Progressive Front Springs, aprox. $60.00. · Work Performance Rear Shock, Aprox. $500.00. · Dash Shelf, custom and hand made for mounting Rader detector and other stuff. Factory tool kit, Oil filter removal tool, Extra saddle bag hinges, and some other little stuff. The bike is a 1992 with 79,378 miles on it. I have taken very good care of the bike but there is of course some paint chips. There are a couple of cracks in the lower fairing and typical around the mirror mounts. I knocked the right side mirror off when doing the rebuild. I used epoxy to put back together, look close and it shows but generally no one but you and I will know. The saddle bags have the normal wear for there age. A few cracks and scratches. The front fender has two small holes from a hood ornament that was mounted (Nixon, my riding buddy, an old Coyote Skull), I pluged the holes but Iafter taking Nixon off I see the front leading fender could use a new paint job. I'm going to see about adding a photo of it. The only thing I can think of that doesn’t work is the ABS. It was giving me trouble shortly after I got it. Had it checked by the Dealer at the time. They said the ABS unit is bad and needed replacing. Too expensive for me to justify. I’ve put 42,200+ miles on it and it stops just fine. You’ll see the blackout tape on the speedometer face, that’s to block the flashing red light. It’s has that typical BMW sprag gear spin sound when first starting a cold engine. It will spin a few times until lockup. Might need rear brake pads. If for some reason it doesn’t sell by June, a friend and I are planning a ride to Hyder, Alaska and I’ll be riding this. I’m considering doing one more Iron Butt ride. I’ve missed something I’m sure, good and bad. I’m selling the bike because we are relocating outside of the USA by year end and I cannot import it to the foreign country. It’s a great bike and in great condition for the age, fun and reliable. Note: I just came back from running some erands, the milage now is 79,567; if your concerned about additional miles you might want to contact me before you bid, I may go for a breakfast ride Saturday morning but once there is a bid I wont ride again NOTE The Radar Detector you see in the photo IS NOT INCLUDED in the sale of this auction (I just forgot to remove it for the picture) $500.00 deposit required within 3 days of auction close, through PayPal and balance by CASH ONLY upon pickup. Local pickup only, Las Vegas, Nevada. If shipping is required, all arrangements must be made by the winning Bidder. Check out my other items! Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
