1953 MG TD, car number TD20860. Stored in a garage in Los Angeles for the last fourteen years (last driven and registered in 1997). Very solid and complete car. · No apparent accidents or repairs. · The frame is solid and looks very straight. · The engine turns freely but doesn’t run. The oil, plugs, and coolant all look good - seems to be the starter but I’m not certain. · Recovered seats and door panels with no rips. · Carpet is not original. · Some wood components are shot; dash, floors. · Paint is old and flawed. · The metal on the car seems to be in very good condition. There is some rust in the firewall on the engine side but it doesn’t appear to go all the way through (see photo of under dashboard). · Tires hold air but are not roadworthy. · Missing part of the windshield wiper assembly. · The grille is very nice. Bumpers look good but have some flaws and there is some pitting on the mirrors. Windshield is good. · Comes with rare hardtop but no soft-top. · Electrical system is intact but I don't know what works. Gauges are all there. · The drive train condition is unknown but shifts into all gears. There are no leaks under the car! I believe this car could be back on the road with a new starter/solenoid and the brake system checked. It will also need the wood dash backing and wood floors as well as good tires. On the other hand, it could be a great candidate for a show-quality restoration. I’ve owned many British cars but I’ m not that familiar with TDs so please ask questions before you bid. Thank you.
