Vehicle Detail
One owner completely stock 1968 GMC Custom Camper pick up. This is a 3/4 ton, 8 lug truck with the original Chevy 396 big block and TH400 automatic transmission. It also has a Dana 60 rear end with positraction and 3:55 gears. Truck has the original paint inside and out with very little rust. This truck has been in California all its life. I have the proteco plate and a bunch of stuff from the dealership including a copy of the build sheet. Floors, cab corners, cab supports and fenders are solid. Slight rust in rockers but repairable without replacing. There is some rust at the kick panels under the floor vents but its not terrible. I have owned and restored many of these trucks. I'm familiar with all their problem areas and can accurately describe the condition if you have more detailed questions. As far as this truck goes, it is far better than average and is bone stock. The truck runs and drives but needs an exhaust system. The mufflers and pipes are rusted through and loud. The original 396 big block chevy was rebuilt by the original owner about 10 years ago and shows only 5000 miles on it since the overhaul. The transmission shifts fine but leaks around the pan gasket. Tranny will need a new gasket, filter and fresh fluid but there is no slipping of the gears. These turbo 400's are typically very reliable. This vehicle should be considered a project truck with great potential. It can be driven but should be shipped or towed to its new home. This truck is solid and straight but is in need of a complete restoration. It could also just be overhauled for a rat rod look by bringing out a shine on the original paint, putting on some nicer wheels and giving this truck some TLC. I have a ton of spare parts for this truck. Everything you need to restore or improve it. This includes a spare hood, grille, original 67-68 factory bucket seats, windshield and very nice set of 8 lug rally wheels from a 98 GMC plus much, much more. These parts could be offered to the new owner FOR SALE, but are not included in this auction. I'm only selling the truck in this auction not the above mentioned spare parts. We can work something out if your interested in the parts. It took me along time to collect all this stuff. I still have several other 67-68 trucks so I don't care if I keep them. This is meant to be a no nonsense auction. No hidden reserve. If it sells great, if not, thats fine to. I will help arrange shipping or store truck until you're ready to pick it up. As long as we agree on how long you need storage first. So call or write with your questions. I will not accept any bids from anyone with less than 25 feedbacks unless we talk on the phone first. This is a nice original truck that has great potential. I've already restored one of these and just can't find the time to do another. That is the only reason I am selling this one. Call Richard at 916-402-3835 with your questions. Truck is located in Sacramento, CA, has a clear title and is ready to go. It is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction early. Thanks. ****I have added a few pictures of the rockers and kick panels where I mentioned minor rust issues. Under the rubber floor mat that I will not remove, you will find minimal rusting there not scene in the pictures. If you are familiar with these trucks you already know its common along this floor/kick panel seem. There are two dime sized rust soft spots under the truck in this vicinity not pictured. Very Very minimal as I said. Cab supports and floors are solid. Rockers are decent. This truck can be restored using all the original sheet metal with minimal rust repair. Hope this helps. Feel free to call with questions. Thanks.****
