Up for auction is a very nice car that you don't see often! Here is a 1966 Mercury that we recently purchased from a guy here locally that had owned the car for several years and restored it aprox 3 years ago and recently decided to part with it. Knowing the car for some time we couldn't wait to try and purchase it because it is not a car that you will see on every corner and we knew it was a good one as the previous owner has driven it to local shows and on trips as far as the Good guys show in Charlotte N.C. and the Run to the Sun show in Myrtle Beach, S.C. This is a very nice car that is turn key ready to enjoy and really gets the attention where ever it goes!! It rides and drives PERFECT and has NO mechanical problems and EVERYTHING on this car is in proper working order!! I would not be afraid to jump in this one and drive across the country and back! This IS a car you can fly in and drive home!!! Most of this cars restoration was completed aprox. 3 years ago and still shows VERY well as it has been pampered and garage kept since its completion. It has also had a complete drivetrain resto and all new components with less than 5,500 miles on a newly rebuilt 406 ci. motor and a C6 automatic transmission and a ford rear end geared perfect at 3:00 for interstate powertours!! This car runs, sounds and performs remarkable!! DRIVE THIS CAR ANYWHERE!!! ALL of the the stainless, chrome, emblems, bezels, rubbers, grille lights, lenses, wheels, tires, etc. etc. look as if new!! The glass appears to be original and is near flawless show quality!! This car offers a very solid body, frame and undercarriage free from any signs of rust! The body is very straight and the paint is very slick and has a deep showroom shine that offers no disappointments!! I would rate the paint a very strong 8.5 keeping in mind that even a new cars paint may be picked. The interior is amazing and like the rest of the car all new, with old school diamond tucked seat covers and door panels with all new gauges, carpet, headliner, seat belts, loker automatic shifter with boot to resemble a 4 speed etc. All the instrument gauges light up clear and brite and are in proper working order and the car has and after market am/fm cass. player w a 6 disc cd changer mounted nicely in the trunk area. From what I have read 406's were offered in a few galaxies and some other fords in 1962 and 1963 only and they were factory tri power motors rated at 390 HP and were used in alot of special race cars in that era. The motor is new rebuilt and has less than 5,500 miles on a complete rebuild. I also have the factory intake and tripower set up for the motor but will be an additional $2,000 of selling price if the new owner wants it. The motor alone in this car is valued at $10,000!!!
