Vehicle Detail
I actually know this bikes’ entire history. The bike came in as one of the last of the old GS models that our dealership received. As such, it was designated as a demonstrator; it quickly became my as well as the General Managers’ favorite. The dealership ran into financial trouble and I moved on. The GS remained in the store for nearly another year. It was sold (briefly) but was returned for another bike. The bike stayed in stock (now used) for several months. Long story short: I traded an R1100S for it in 2005. At the time, the bike had about 3800 miles on it. The motorcycle has spent its entire life stored inside a garage, hooked up to a battery tender, and resting under a cover. The tender and the cover will go with the bike. As you can see from the pictures, the bike is not new. If you’ve had a GS, you know that squeezing into a garage with the bags on can be a challenge. While the bike has never been down, the pictures show any imperfections that are present. The white marks on the bags can be taken off; I wanted to give an accurate picture of what you are getting. There are no flaws in the paint or bodywork. The clear coat on the windshield is starting to come off. Other than the bar backs, the bike is completely stock. I have had the oil changed every year by the dealership in Fort Wayne or Indy since I bought the bike. All required/recommended service work has been done. Were I to keep the bike, I would replace the battery (still the original) and brake pads (still the original) this season. In addition, the tires have about 6000 miles on them; good to go this year (depending on your miles per year). As it sits, I would not hesitate to ride the bike cross country. By the way, I average about 41-42 mpg. In answer to the most popular questions: I am only selling it because the drive train in my Mustang is shot and I need the money. The bike has a free and clear Indiana title. The bike is being sold as is, no warranty implied or offered.I will not be responsible for shipping the bike. If you are using a shipper, I have no problem dropping the bike off anywhere in Indianapolis. However, the bike will not move without full payment. Before you bid on the bike, HAVE YOUR FUNDING IN PLACE. You are not bidding to look at the bike, think about financing the bike, waiting to talk to your Mom/spouse, etc. You are bidding to own the bike. I require a $250 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of the auctions’ end via Paypal. The balance and pickup are due within 7 -10 days. If you are flying into Indy, I will be happy to arrange a ride as my schedule will accommodate. I am about 25 minutes southeast of the airport. I will accept a cashier’s check or cash for the balance. I am not interested in trades-unless you have a low mileage 4.6l 3V Ford engine mated to a 5 or 6 speed transmission. If you are not sure about something, please ask. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. It kills me to sell it, but I have no choice. Thanks for checking out the bike and good luck!On May-01-11 at 18:05:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that the windshield has been upgraded and is a bit taller than stock. On May-03-11 at 18:34:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received several requests to see the bike; I am happy to show it whenever I am free. The bike is for sale locally. As such, I reserve the right to end the auction if the "Buy It Now" price is reached. Good luck and happy bidding!
