That being said, this is a very interesting Galaxie 500 in the fact that it was ordered with virtually no options from the factory. It is equipped with the standard 223 Mileage Maker Six and 3-Speed Conventional Drive. No padded dash or visors, no 2-speed wipers, no tinted glass, no power steering or brakes, in fact it even came without a radio. Somewhere along the line someone added a period correct Ford accessory radio and correct antenna. This is indeed a rare and unusual Galaxie 500. About as plain as a Galaxie 500 can get, yet it is very striking in appearance dressed in Black inside and out. This is what makes this such an interesting car and why it attracts so much attention at car shows. Today this car remains pretty much as it did when it was new other than the radial WSW Tires and an aftermarket in-dash cassette player. The dash was not cut at all when the radio was installed and both the Ford Accessory Radio and a factory original 1962 AM Radio are also included. Probably the most incredible thing is that this is an extremely low mileage original un-restored car. The odometer reading of 27,000 miles is correct according to the paperwork I have on the car. I have a copy of the title which I received when I bought it showing the mileage as actual. South Dakota lists all cars of this age as “Mileage Exempt”, so the title I have does not re?ect any mileage, so I really can't guarantee 100% that the mileage is correct other than what was re?ected when I bought the car and I was told it was correct, and I believe it is looking at the car. The paint appears to be mostly original and is in incredible condition considering the age of the car, it shines beautifully and has very few imperfections. There is a small crease in the LR quarter panel just below the Galaxie emblem which you may be able to see in the photo. The interior is also all original. The original carpet shows little wear with no holes, other than some fading. The front seat needs repair as you can see in the pictures, and while the back seat looks perfect, some of the seams are starting to come loose and need to be re-sewn. All chrome is original and still very nice, although not perfect. You can see from the pictures that for a car almost 50 years old, the original condition is really beautiful. It's apparent that this car have been very well taken care of for many decades. Under the hood could use some detailing, but it's also original. Everything works as it should on the car and the engine runs perfectly. It's quiet, doesn't knock or smoke, in fact it doesn't even leak. It starts and runs smooth and quiet with no issues. The single exhaust system is quiet with no leaks. If I had to think of something to repair on the engine, I couldn't do it, it runs that perfect. The clutch and transmission works smoothly, although 1st gear is not synchronized on this transmission, it never was. The only issue with the transmission is minor. When you shift into 3rd gear, it grinds a small amount if you shift to fast. If you shift slowly it shifts ?ne through all gears. The brakes work perfectly, as do all lights and accessories. the car drives down the highway great, the steering is tight and the cars rides just as it should. This is a really nice driving 1962 Galaxie 500. I replaced the hoses and belts so this car should be ready for a long trip. I would guess the tires have 2-3000 miles on them and they are in ?ne condition showing little wear. The spare is brand new and matches the other tires. The trunk mat is original and the trunk ?oor is solid. Overall, this is a very nice 1962 Galaxie 500, not perfect by any means, not a 100 point ?awless show car, not 100% over-restored. However, it is a very nice original unrestored car. It is being sold 100% as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
