Vehicle Detail
We've had this conversion van since 2007 and have loved it for long trips. Last winter, my 16-year-old son hit a deer (actually, more like the deer hit him as the damage will reveal). I am including photos of the repair estimate which came in at $6,645.10 (Specifically he billed parts at $3,246.10 and paint at $570). The vehicle is driveable, but the front left wheel can scrape against the fender which, together with the bumper, has been pushed back a bit. Other information: Leather seats, power seats, DVD player (we jerry-rigged and retrofitted the small flat-screen TV you see in the photo when the original TV that operates off of the cigarette lighter stopped working). Rear heat and air that works wonderfully. All of the curtains work great. The back seat is electric and folds down into a bed. There is a built-in cooler and 2 electric drink warmer and collers in the center console. The leather is in great shape, very few signs of wear. Carpet is fairly clean, but we have five kids, and evidence of their having rode in the car is there in some staining. Receiver hitch is installed... had electric braking system installed last summer but cut it out for another need. It is sitting in the van at the moment and is available if buyer wants the unit. Condition: The body is in ok shape, but the ground effects package shows signs of wear, tear and breaking here and there in the areas not hit by the deer. I'm including a few pics of what I'm talking about. I included a picture of the 2nd door on the passenger side - it would often be left open and the front passenger would open his door and scratch the 2nd-passenger door. I also included pictures of the rear door interior panels where the clips have let the interior plastic panel hang loose from the metal door (this also is true for the left half of the 2nd door on passenger side). Needs new clips. We've had transmission problems twice when pulling trailers. In 2009 I was pulling a large, but light enclosed trailer and failed to know that I should move it out of drive and drive in 3rd gear. The transmission overheated, tranny oil varnished and the transmission started giving me serious troubles. I had it rebuilt. Then last summer we pulled out on an extremely hot day and drove from Minnesota to Yellowstone and Glacier National Park pulling a large popup camper (large enough for our family of 7). While going through the mountains, the tranny went out on us again and was rebuilt again. If we do not sell the van here, we're going to keep trying to tow with the van, but will install an auxiliary radiator for the coolant going back to the transmission. My father-in-law, who is a car guy and will repair the car if we keep it, said he would install that transmission radiator while he has the front grill assembly off. Without at least trying to install an axiliary radiator, I would not recommend that a new owner try to tow very much or very far with this van. The tires are in great condition. The van starts and runs great. There's no rust on the body. The van was not stored inside every winter (it was after the deer accident this year). But it also was not driven a lot in the winters because it is rear wheel drive. That's about all I can think of. Please post your questions and I will post them with my answers to this ad. Owner must pick up. Cash payment. Buyer may reject the van when he/she comes to pick up and will be free and clear from purchasing it if he/she is not pleased with it and with how I've described it in this ad.
